Brave Mother’s Day Wishes

Five years ago today, I was very pregnant with my second son. JSL had not gotten the memo that he had been given eviction orders. He decided that it was not in my best interest to come Mother’s Day weekend when my favorite doctor was on call. Instead, I spent Mother’s Day 2007 hot, uncomfortable, and wishing I was holding my baby boy.

Mother's Day 2007

Of course, the joke was on me when I realized that I had been in labor all during Mother’s Day and just blocked out a lot with sleeping in front of the AC unit.

Now, I am the mother of two beautiful and amazing boys. NHL and JSL keep me on my toes, make me laugh, and treat me like the princess in our house ….most of the time. It only seemed fitting to jump into a photo with Cinderella and my two little princes.

Now, I will leave you with a special Mother’s Day message from Disney Pixar and the characters from Brave.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunts, sister-in-laws, cousins, other family members, friends, and all women. May your day be filled with many wonderful memories.

It's Me

Disclosure: Disney PR notified me of the Mother’s Day Brave featurette. I was not compensated for this and simply wanted to share since I adore all things Disney. You know we will be going to see Brave when it is released June 22, 2012.

Disney Nature’s Chimpanzee

As the mother of two children, I have a hard enough time trying to film my own family from time to time. It is hard for me to imagine trying to make a movie all about animals, nature, and everything in between. Of course, Disney Nature makes this task look relatively easy.

 Chimpanzee

Each year, Disney Nature continues to bring stories of animals to us. This weekend, for Earth Day we get to meet Oscar in the new release Chimpanzee.

If you take your family to meet Oscar during the first week, part of the money will go to help chimpanzees in the wild. I know that we are hoping to take the kids to see this. As a child, I fell in love with chimpanzees thanks to reading books about Jane Goodall.  Now, I hope to show my children what this woman has done to help chimpanzees that are endangered. I love that she has helped with this project and supports it.

If you have seen Chimpanzee I would love to know what you thought and how you will work to help Oscar and his family.

It's Me

Disclosure: I received PR information about Chimpanzee. Since we are fans of Disney Nature, I wanted to share this information with my readers. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own.

The Avengers and LEGO Collide

My boys love all things related to super heroes. Of course, when I say my boys, I mean all three of the boys – including TechyDad. Yes, my husband has been talking for months about a new movie coming out

Avengers LEGO Theatrical Poster

The Avengers will be in theaters May 4 and I have a feeling it will be a date night since the boys are a little too young to see it before we preview. Of course, just because they can’t see the movie right away, doesn’t mean they are not excited. The kids are thrilled to see that Marvel characters from The Avengers will now be made into LEGO items. JSL already has begged to get Captain America for his birthday. NHL loved how Hulk was scaled to be larger than the rest and I agree that is a really nice touch.

Here is a preview of the movie if you have not seen it.

Are you planning on seeing The Avengers? Do you have a favorite hero that you can not wait to see in LEGO form?

Tuesday Tales – Hunger Games Mania

In September 2008, author Suzanne Collins wrote a book that would quickly become a fan favorite. Now, almost three and a half years later, The Hunger Games has sold over 23.5 million copies in the United States. The book has spent more than 160 consecutive weeks on The New York Times bestseller list.

Hunger Games Trilogy on Kimberly Kindle

I have to admit, I have heard people raving about the book for a long time, but never stopped long enough to read it. Then more and more came out about the book being made into a major motion picture from Lionsgate. I was definitely more intrigued as friend after friend mentioned reading it. In addition to this, many teacher friends have used the book within their classrooms as a unit of study. Scholastic has even made pages on their website to help fans of all ages to connect to the trilogy and learn more.

When we got our Kindle, we selected The Hunger Games Trilogy as part of our prize. Last week, I finished reading some other books and sat down to start The Hunger Games. After the initial chapter, the pages were turning faster than I could imagine. Suddenly, I was swept away in the world of Katniss Everdeen. My mind was racing as the book reminded me of some novels that I read in High School, only I adored this SO much more. I quickly finished book and am now almost finished with Catching Fire. I have put my knitting down and can’t stop reading every chance that I have.

On March 23, The Hunger Game will blast onto the screen in theaters across the country. We will be able to watch Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Effie, Cinna, and all of the other characters that captivate their audience. Here is the trailer for the movie:

Are you a fan of The Hunger Games Trilogy? Are you looking forward to seeing the movie coming out in less than a month? Let me know your thoughts on another book to movie event.

What have you read recently? Please be sure to link up to your book posts in the comments below. Include something you read on your own, with a child, or someone else. Tuesday Tales are all about spreading the love for books.
