swaparooni
« Previous EntriesMy Silver, Blue & White Swaparooni is here!
Thursday, November 15th, 2007Well, it was actually here over the weekend and my neighbor brought it to us Monday night. All of the boys had a blast helping me to dig into the giant box of goodies that came from Airing Dirty Laundry. It was perfect timing since I felt so lousy and it made me smile opening everything and watching the boys laugh and giggle with each and every item they found inside.
Here are some photos of the boys getting to work.
There were lots of fun notes inside that had JL and I laughing!
These are some of NHL and JSL opening things for me and their own gift too. Yes, my Swaparooni pal was sweet and sent each of the boys (including the 30-something one) an item.
Rather than bore you with a shot by shot diary of each item being opened here they all are together:
- CD for active babies for JSL
- Eeyore stickers for MOI! (May have to fight a 4 year old about these)
- Winnie the Pooh book about Buoyancy for NHL (we are scientists here so we love this)
- Circle Word Book
- Set of lavender lotions
- Star silicone molds – we are all itching to test these out soon!
- Hot chocolate with mini marshmallows
- A really cute new fabric headband — I LOVE this!
- Gummy sharks – NHL and I had some of these today . . . YUM!
- Local dark chocolate bar for JL
- Gorgeous note card box
- Bag of peach tea
- Rolos that according to my swap buddy have NO point value – LOL!
S did an amazing job selecting goodies for everyone here. Thank you SO much for everything. I sent out her swaparooni package today and it should be there Saturday. Once she has it I will post photos of the items I sent her. Once again another fun swap where I have met a great online friend.

Silver, Blue and White Swaparooni
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Unfortunately, I never had a chance to post about the new sign up for the October/November Swaparooni before the deadline (it was last night). I finally decided to do this one before the weather is too bad. I had to though since I am the one that suggested these colors.
Here’s what OMSH made for the new swap:

Since I know that Coolbeansmama received her swap from me it is now safe to share photos of the goodies I sent to her.
From left to right: 1) Address labels that I made on my own Handy Dandy computer 2) A cool red notebook 3) M&M magnetic list pad 4) Red M&M note cards 5) Train and ladybug magnets that I put together 6) Apple cider tea 7) Mary Engelbreit note cards 8) Old fashioned animal crackers 9) ladybug stickers 10) Kit-Kat and 100 Grand candy bars and 11) A special scrunchie that I had made on Etsy (by Prissy Princess) with Coolbeansmama’s favorite team and at the top 12) Red Scrub poofs.
Here are some close ups of a few things:
It was so much fun shopping and getting things here and there for Coolbeansmama. Now I can’t wait to make a new friend with the next swap.

Thursday Red Swaparooni Surprise
Saturday, October 6th, 2007Thursday afternoon after a doctor’s appointment for NHL and meeting with his providers JL walked out and found a package on the porch. He quickly brought it inside and announced that my package was here. Sure enough my box of goodies from the Shades of Red Swaparooni had arrived from Coolbeansmama. I was floored since she sent it on Tuesday.

Here’s a photo of my Shades of Red Swap package:
Included in my goodies:
1. Red journal with cool polka dot buckle on it.
2. Red tot stapler – something I completely needed since I am always having issues finding the stapler in the house.
3. Word-Find book to do when I need mindless entertainment. These are my favorite to do when I’m just too tired to read and don’t want to watch tv.
4. Sweedish fish – YUMMY! My faorites and if NHL is nice I may share with him.
5. Hershey dark chocolate bar – something for JL to make him happy.
6. Amazing Rubbermaid organizer. My plan is to put this in the kitchen to hold my supplies to keep them easy to locate and safe from the boys.
7. Bright new pot holders, something that we are always in need of for baking things.
8. Bookmark bling as Coolbeansmama called it. She made these herself and are great for marking the stack of books that are waiting for me to read. (I still need to start reading Twilight ASAP)
Coolbeansmama did a wonderful job selecting items for me. Hopefully her package from moi will arrive soon. Once she gets it I will post photos of the items I sent to her. Thanks again Coolbeansmama for everything!

One talented lady :)
Friday, September 7th, 2007Thanks to the Flickr Swaparooni group I have met many fabulous ladies in the land of blogging. One in particular is an amazing woman who’s blog is fascinating and her talent has no end. H of Oh My Stinkin Heck connects with her audience. Her touching life stories, honesty and humor make her website an addiction. One one the items that OMSH loves to do is make up songs about her life. She’s done several in recent weeks that all moms can certainly relate to. She has a talent and could be the Weird Al for all Mommy’s. Even JSL stopped what he was doing to listen and dance to her latest song this morning titled These are a few of Life’s Obnoxious Things. Please check it out, it truly is wonderful. Thanks OMSH for all that you do!

Shades of Red Swaparooni
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007In July/August I participated in the Color Me Happy Swaparooni which was the Brown and Blue swap. It was so much fun. I loved shopping for things to get my swap buddy C. It was also great getting to know C and receiving a package of amazing goodies from her for my entire family. Now I sit here wondering what to do about the Shades of Red swap. Should I take a month off and wait to get a part time job now that I am not teaching and am a SAHM? I don’t know what to do. I just know that I need to make a decision soon.
*sigh*

Swaparooni – Blue & Brown is here!!!
Thursday, August 16th, 2007As noted before my Swaparooni package from C arrived today!!!!
JL told NHL that he had presents waiting for him at home from a special thing mommy was doing. NHL all but flew out of the car into the house to check it out.
He started with the M&M note card thanking him for helping me pick out the things for C. He felt so special. He also heard me read the beautifully hand written note from C to me (nice teacher writing BTW *wink*). In this it stated there were two things for NHL & JSL. So I found one and gave it to him to open. Play Doh!!!! He was thrilled and can’t wait to use it with me next week when he’s home with JSL and I. After that he helped us to open JSL’s first gift . . . a ever so sweet Clifford Puppy book.
Next we saw the yummy homemade chocolate chip cookies. We all had some of those while waiting for dinner to cook. NHL then helped me open few other thing. After a minute he looks at me and asks where his other was since the note said two. I had to laugh that he really was listening.
So we found the next one for NHL. It was a blue Crayola crayon thermos. A perfect thing for a little guy who is starting school in September. Then he helped to open JSL’s second gift. It was an adorable Blues Clues outfit. How C knew he was a favorite I will never know.
Then I opened my things. An aromatherapy bath fizz, Rolos (my favorite), an organizer with lots of goodies in (great note cards, stickers, post-it notes, and post cards of places where C is from), a gorgeous painting that C made with Acrylic paints, great wooden spoon for baking, fun pens, and a photo magnet frame.
JL was thrilled with his chocolate treats. And we can’t wait to try Kosher tea biscuits . . . and we all chuckled at the cute animal plates.
Here are some photos of everything.
This is everything all together:

C you did an amazing job picking things out to spoil my family and me. Thank you so much. Stay in touch and e-mail me when your baby girl makes her debut.

Self control . . .
Thursday, August 16th, 2007is something I am working at now as I wait for the boys to come home.
Why you ask?
Well, just minutes ago I looked outside and saw a nice big box sitting outside. It was my Swaparooni package from C. (odd no doorbell rang either)
*grins*
So now I sit here and debate. Do I open everything without them or not? I opened and read the sweet note from C and know there are things for all of my boys, so I think I can be good and wait an hour and a half. It’s going to be tough, but I think I can do it.
This is what I have seen so far and stopped:

Lots more photos to come ASAP.

Swaparooni arrived at CityStream’s today!!!
Tuesday, August 7th, 2007Last week I sent out my Swaparooni package to C (aka CityStreams) and she got it today. Since she read my blog I wasn’t able to post about all of the stuff before. Here’s a photo of all of the things that were included in my package:
Included were:
- Infantino baby toy. JSL helped me to pick this out. We had bought him one similar to it and he loved it. C is expecting her first, a baby girl in September.
- A bath poof in blue to pamper herself with. Enjoy longer showers now before the baby gets here C!
- A 10 color pen for correcting. These were my favorite when I was in school and I had one when I was student teaching as well. Red ink just gets boring after a while.
- Earrings from an artist on Etsy. Here’s a close up

They were from Candy’s ArtDesigns. Her store can be located at: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5070992
- A blue and brown folder. C said she may use it for her long term maternity leave substitute plans
- M&M Note cards. I know she didn’t like logos, but this was a chocolate note card and she likes chocolate. NHL wouldn’t let me put them back when I found them. In fact he made me get him a Blue M&M note pad.
- 4 things of Blue and Brown ribbon. Again NHL was with me when I went hunting for these. He was too funny screaming in stores when he found something that was blue or brown. I can’t wait to hear what C does with these.
- Chocolates for C. I went and looked for chocolate that had brown and blue packaging. I was able to find Snickers, Hershey bars and Sno-Caps. Little did I know that Sno-Caps were C’s favorite!
- Last but not least something for C’s hubby. He likes Dove milk chocolate. These were perfect since the packaging is blue and brown!
Phew! I’m just glad it arrived and got there in one piece.

Lots done yesterday
Wednesday, August 1st, 2007I now have a “To do list” on my computer's desktop to keep track of things that need to be done. Yesterday I was able to get several of the things done.
One thing that was not on my list that was accomplished was NHL's chin revealed itself. The sterri strip stayed on for an entire week and finally came off last night. It's very red and irritated looking, but is closed and we hope look better with some cream on it over time.
Now for what I did yesterday:
I packaged up the first batch of papers to send out with our Flex Spending things. Then I did the paper work for the 2nd batch. I spent a bit of time making address labels for NHL's 4th birthday invitations. They have Curious George on them since that is the theme that we FINALLY went with since they can make that cake. My grandmother was told yesterday that we can use the community room in her building, so the party will definitely be there this year. This will likely be the last BIG family party for NHL since next year he will probably want a kid party for his classmates at real school. Today my plan is to write out the invitations and address them to have ready to send out by tomorrow at the latest.
In addition to this, I was also able to finish up the last few thank you notes that I did not do for baby gifts that came later. All 5 of those are done and ready to head out. I also called our temple about this years membership. Now JL and I need to sit down and write a letter to the committee about things. So one thing off the list and another on!
Once JL and NHL leave I am going to pack up my Swaprooni gift. Everything for it has arrived or been purchased. Now I just need to put it all together to send out. (C – I will let you know when it is shipped so you can keep an eye out for it) If all goes well that will be ready, along with two other packages to ship out today. So another item on my list is the post office for this purpose and to get stamps for the invitations.
One other item on my list that I tried to take care of yesterday was a bag for Aunt M's baby shower gift. Unfortunately when NHL and I went out last night we were unable to find one large enough for everything that needs to go in it. So that's another thing that I must find in my travels.
More to do:
Tomorrow is baking day. We are test running ice cream cone cupcakes for JL's birthday on Friday that we plan to make for NHL's birthday (also his last day ever at daycare/nursery school). In addition to that I would like to bake something for my friend's birthday that is Sunday. Just a little something that she really liked when we made them for her before.
Lots to do while JSL is still sleeping . . . so I am off!

busy.
Sick Hubby & Shopping fun!!!
Wednesday, July 18th, 2007JL stayed home sick today – got the bug going around the center. NHL wanted to go to nursery school, so I took him in this morning and came back home. JL took a very long nap. During this time JSL slept some, got up nursed and went with me to my old school to get some things in classroom that were still there. We were also meeting someone at school to pick up Rescue Hero things that her sons no longer wanted. After that we went back home for more moo time. JL was up and feeling much better by this time. He helped me with a diaper change at one point and had fast flying breastfed baby poop heading out with no diaper on JSL. Fun cleanup followed including the carpet we just got in that room. . . . and two of NHL’s coloring books were tossed.
At 4:00 I went to pick NHL up and JSL stayed home with JL thanks to the rain. NHL had a good day. JL said it was okay for NHL and me to go do a little shopping. So we went to two fun stores to search for Swaparooni things. Wow are there a lot of blue and brown things out there. NHL had fun helping me. I bought a bunch of items to add to the things I already purchased. Now I just need to get a few more odds and ends. I’d tell more, but I can’t since a certain someone reads my blog – Hi C I read your blog too!
Now I’m home for more Moo-time . . . ’tis my life as a paci-booba-fier!
