Father’s Day Wishes and Memories – 2011

Father's Day Stamp

I still remember the first Father’s Day that we had for TechyDad. It was a day spent with family, watching our ten month old NHL grow up before our eyes.

TechyDad's 1st Father's Day

We went for part of the day to the nursing home to visit with my Poppy S. NHL loved sitting in his arms and just watching his face. He always grabbed his baseball hat and liked to snuggle with him in his room.

Of course, later on, Poppy S and NHL bonded over ice cream bars, Dunkin Donuts  that we brought him, and clucking like a chicken. Those are memories that we will always cherish.

Last year, TechyDad decided he wanted to take the boys bowling for part of the day. We went and the boys laughed, smiled, and had a wonderful time.

TechyDad and NHL - March 2011

Father’s Day this year may include strawberry picking, lunch out, or something completely different. It is up in the air. We will be doing fun things with TechyDad. No doubt the boys will love every minute with their amazing father.

This is TechyDad’s seventh Father’s Day as a dad. I knew from the day we started going out that he was going to be a fantastic father. He has gone above and beyond over the years. He loves to play and be a kid with the boys. Now that they are older, he spends time passing on traditions and fun things that he loves with them including Anamaniacs, super heroes, Gargoyles, photography, and the list goes on. Thank you for being such an amazing father to our boys. I love you.

TechyDad and the boys

I want to wish all of the men in my life a very Happy Father’s Day. This includes my father, brother, uncles, cousins, and the list goes on. Of course, I have to share a special photo of my Dad and little me. We were curled up with our cockatiel Pretty Boy likely watching cartoons in my parent’s super cool Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog sheets. Dad and Little Me

Thank you Dad for all that you do for us – we love you!

How will you be spending Father’s Day with the important men in your life?

My Bridal Shower Memories

Just shy of ten years ago right now, I was busy getting ready for my wedding day. All of the months of preparations, stresses, and dreams were about to result in our magical day. I was going to marry my Long Island Love. That was the nickname that I had for TechyDad before we were married and long before we had our boys.

TechyDad and TheAngelForever - April 2001

In April, I had a bridal shower that my aunts had for me. It was a day of laughing, smiling, fun games, and great food with family and friends.

Bridal Shower Memories

The beautiful hat I was wearing above was the traditional  craft made by the Jersey Girls. They did an amazing job and I know where that hat is to this day. Some friends and family were not able to be there that day. They were saving time to come to our wedding just a few months later. Of course, I have photos with my friends that were there with me.

Friends celebrating with me

It was also a day of family. I was sad because several grandparents were no longer able to be with us. Now, ten years later my Papa S and TechyDad’s Grandma (far right), are loved ones we have lost. Here are our grandparents on that special day.

Our Grandparents

It is so hard to believe that it has been ten years. Ten years since I became a teacher, was getting ready to become a wife, looking forward to a honeymoon in Walt Disney World, and making memories like the ones above that make me smile to this day.

Thank you to everyone that was there for the wonderful day that put me at ease during a stressful pre-wedding time. I love you all.

P.S. There were a lot of other photos taken, but some were not digital and the scans were not the best. If any family wants to see them, just let me know.

Journey To Comfort – Giveaway

Father’s Day is coming in a few short weeks. I know that the boys and I always have a tough time coming up with something special to get TechyDad. Last year, I was able to get some Dove Men + Care items for JL to try. As I wrote at the time, he was a bit skeptical about using a body wash from past experience. Much to our surprise, TechyDad really liked the way the body wash left his skin feeling and we have been buying it ever since that time.

Dove Men+Care Logo

P1030029I was recently contacted by the PR agency from Dove Men + Care to do a giveaway and let people know about a promotion they are running for Father’s Day. I immediately agreed and was sent another fantastic package for TechyDad

About the line:

  • New Dove Men + Care is from the dermatologist recommended brand Dove, which has a history of cleansing, moisturizing, and care.
  • The new Dove Men + Care Sensitive Clean Body and Face Wash fights dryness and is formulated specifically for men who prefer mild, unscented body and face wash.
  • Dove Men + Care Deodorants and Antiperspirants are formulated to provide 48 hour protection and be tough on sweat not skin.
The new “Journey to Comfort” videos feature Stewart Cink and Davis Love III. Here is one of the videos:

Dove Men + Care has also set up a new Twitter account (@DoveMenCare) where you can participate for a chance to win* daily prizes, including memorabilia signed by Cink and Love, in addition to other golf-related gear which will be perfect for Father’s Day and beyond. You can also check out the Tournament to Comfort game to play for a chance to win even more prizes including  the opportunity to meet Cink, a session with Cink’s swing coach, a set of custom clubs, and a trip to the 2012 tour of championship.

* No purchase necessary. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., 18 & older. Begins 12:00 p.m. ET on 4/6/11 & ends 12:00 p.m. ET on 6/20/11. Void where prohibited. Go to for Official Rules.

Although TechyDad is not a golf fan, he is a fan of Dove Men + Care and will continue to use their products. So far he seems to like the new deodorant. I like them because the smell is not too overpowering like many other deodorants with a scent which made me sneeze when he would use them.

Thanks to Dove, one lucky reader will win their prize pack similar to the one that we received above.
