Time to laugh

Right now we are up to our eyeballs in getting NHL’s wiggle tooth out. It is hard to believe that my serious six year old once laughed at any word. Case in point, our little guy back in February 2004. At just  six months old he was laughing at an unusual word. Check it out to hear the word of the day.

Ah, if only life would always be as simple as this!

I thought this would be the perfect addition to the MckLinky Blog Hop this week with the theme Time to Laugh.

New circular adventure

Are you able to identify what the photo below this is?

40 DW Cloths ready to go

Any ideas?  Really, I would love to know if you can guess. Here is another view:

Pile of knit cloths

Obviously, they are knitted washcloths that I have made. If you go deeper, they show my fear to try new and exciting knitting projects. Basically, I like mindless knitting to relieve stress and I have latched onto this DW Cloth pattern. The photos are the 40 that are currently made and in storage. This 40 does not includes dozens that I have given away throughout the year. In June, I made teacher gift bags and included 2 for each of NHL’s teachers (2), aids (2), and therapists (2).

I have been itching to try making a log cabin blanket, but can not wrap my brain around the pattern on my own. I can start it, but do not really understand how to add on the next rectangle. Last night, I decided enough was enough and I am breaking out of my shell. I asked people for suggestions on some patterns for a project and received a few great ones. This morning I finally settled on one, dug out my never used circular knitting needles (oy!), and some Caron Simply Soft Sage Green yarn and started on something new and exciting.

So, while the boys were playing  earlier I got everything ready. I cast on 168 stitches (yikes) and started to knit. Here is what I have done so far:

Knitting on circulas for first time EVER

Knitting on circular needles was not bad at all. Still getting used to them, but it is working out nicely. The photo does not do the Sage Green yarn justice (really not mint colored). So there you have it, I am trying something new and feel great about it.

Have you tried anything outside of your comfort zone recently? I would love to know if you have. Oh, if you knit  please share any EASY patterns that you love to make. I have never made a hat, mittens and not really into socks, but you never know what I may try.

Message from the Tooth Fairy

I wanted to share a note that NHL received last night from the Tooth Fairy. This is the letter that he found when he woke up this morning:

Cheering letter from Tooth Fairy to NHL

He was quite excited to have something on his bed when he woke up. Mind you, he did not find it on his own. Daddy went into his room and came running to NHL to mention it. Of course, once he saw the tooth on the outside he guessed who it was from.

Note and the sleeping boy

We are hoping that this note, along with some fun games that JL made up, will help to get this tooth out. The new adult tooth is already well on it’s way up behind the stubborn baby. Another call to the dentist office will take place Monday morning from a paranoid parent. In the mean time we have been trying to work on the tooth. Last night NHL was playing Mario Kart Wii and each time he lost JL got to wiggle for 10 seconds. Thank goodness NHL is not too great at Mario Kart, so a lot of wiggling took place. Today the tooth is really moving and even side to side.

Later today more Wiggle Tooth Olympics will commence!

Bye-Bye Binky

Dear JSL,

This was a big week for you. On Monday night after celebrating NHL’s birthday you went into our bed and never asked for your binky. Of course, Daddy and I quickly made them "disappear" before you saw any. Tuesday you never said anything until bedtime. That was a rough night, along with Wednesday and some on Thursday. You really wanted your "Baby" and I was mean and did not give in. When we came home from Disney World in May we only allowed your binky at naps and bedtime. You were doing really great. You would wake up and toss your binky out and keep going. Now, thanks to you initiating it (without knowing) you appear to be binky free.

Quiet time with Elmo

The last major step in becoming a big boy is potty train (I am not counting the fact that you still like you "Mama More More" ).  Today while we were out, we bought a bunch of Sesame Street stickers to use as rewards. Now Mommy just needs to be brave enough to try this on her own since daycare mostly potty trained your big brother.

Binky free boy

I am so proud of you for being binky free, but you will always be my baby no matter what.

Love,

Mommy

Post be gone

If you could see me right now you would notice steam coming out of my ears. I am beyond annoyed at this moment. I wrote a post for Aloha Friday earlier this evening. Along the way, I saved it several times. Then I went to get the little guy to sleep. Hubby went to check it out for me. At that very moment he saw a bug crawling into my keyboard. He went to stop the bug and "POOF" my post was gone. He figured that was nothing since I had saved it. Well, that joke was on both of us since WordPress apparently overwrote my saved post with a blank one. The only item saved was the title.

I am just too tired and frustrated to reblog that post at this point. Of course, my theory is anything I type may just be eaten by the post Gremlin at this point. This happened once before, so I am definitely leary.

So my question to you this week:

What is the most frustrating thing to you about computer technology? Have you ever had had a post just disappear even after you saved it? If you have, what did you do?

On that note, I am off to sulk about my nice post that is now history. I will leave you with a preview of NHL’s birthday cupcake cones from last weekend.

Care for a cupcake cone?

Have a great weekend everyone!
