Holiday Gifts and Online Party Incentives

Over the years, holiday shopping has changed a lot for me. I used to love going to the mall and outlets. It was almost a sport to try to get a good deal during the month of December. Since I got married and had kids, life has changed a lot. The chaotic pace of every day life means that I don’t have the time or energy to deal with crowds, parking lots, and too many people. That is time that I can be making memories with my boys.

If you are still searching for the perfect gift for a loved one, friend, teacher, co-worker, or other woman in your life look no further.

WrapUpTheHolidays_Square

As a Jamberry Independent Consultant, I would love to assist you in selecting some nail wraps and products for gift giving this holiday season. If you place an order before December 10 (US), it will arrive by December 24.

Jamberry also has a festive new set for the holidays. The Tis the Season Holiday Gift Set includes the Joyful Season, Joyful Celebration, Joyful Laughter and First Frost (December Sister’s Style Exclusive) wraps. Those would be a wonderful gift alone, or you could add a little something extra on.

Jamberry Independent Consultant

Since I wrote my post about putting Jamberry nails to the test, I made a big decision. Here’s a clue that you may have noticed on the blog (this is the mobile view).

It’s official, I am a Jamberry Independent Consultant and I am beyond excited for this new adventure. Oh and one other thing, don’t forget to ask me about hosting an online party. Hostess rewards are available and it’s fun for everyone.

Take a look around at the wide variety of products and let me know which is your favorite design.

I have to admit, I am not sure I could narrow mine that easily. My favorite part about the product is that the in home manicure lasts, they do not chip, and there is no pesky waiting for my nails to dry like after using polish.

Putting Jamberry Nails to the Test

When I was little, I was fascinated with my Nana’s nails. I would go with her to watch the manicure process which took forever back in the dark ages. Between visits, Nana would allow me to treat her cuticles, clean then, and polish my own nails.

I have always loved the look of shiny nail polish, but it never stays put. It isn’t just an issue of chipping, it will actually pop right off. I finally gave up and just do my toes for the summer months.Jamberry Autism Awareness Nail Wraps

In September, a friend invited me to a virtual Jamberry Nails party. I was intrigued and watched the videos of applying them. Since I have had problems with polish staying on my nails, I opted to try just one sheet first. Yes, the autism awareness nail photo above is of Jamberry nail wraps. While I was nervous applying them, the YouTube video and instructions really helped. I had a few items that I realized I needed to do for my next application, but was pretty impressed with how they looked.

First Jamberry Nail Wrap Manicure

Not only did they last, they stayed on my fingers for 13 days and still looked amazing. Sure my nails grew out and the tips showed wear and tear, but they were still there. On day 13, one of them snagged in my hair. I was home alone and stuck, so I pulled and it came off. Since they say they last 1-2 weeks for a manicure, I was not upset at all. For Halloween season, the boys helped me to pick out some fun new Jamberry. Fright Night arrived and I put them on last Tuesday.

Second Jamberry Nail Wrap Manicure

What I love are the small details. Each finger is slightly different.

Jamberry Nail Wrap Time - Fright Night

Once again, my Jamberry manicure is going strong at eleven days and I am hooked. I am eyeing Jamberry wraps for Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and winter fun. In a house full of boys, pampering my own nails every so often makes me smile and my nails are happy and healthy before, during, and after.

Have you tried Jamberry yet?

Right now I am hosting an online Jamberry party (disclosure, I get fun stuff when people order). It is taking place until November 12 and there will be additional fun on the Facebook page. Let me know if you would like an invite. Oh and for super creative types, you can design Jamberry’s as well. I have seen some amazing fun Disney style options and other ones as well. So check out the options and let me know what your favorite design is. I have to admit, the Gobble Me Up for Thanksgiving are super fun and cute, plus the Let It Snow make me think of Elsa from Frozen.

Back to School Snacks and Savings

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

Yogurt Covered Cereal Trail Mix

It’s hard to believe that the summer is over and kids all around will be back in school. Over the last month or so, Price Chopper supermarket has been helping parents like me to get ready. In addition to their back to school savings, they have great recipe suggestions to help everyone transition back to the more hectic autumn schedules.

Snack time is important at our house. I want to get something nutritious into the boys to give them energy to head outside to play and get homework done. After a long day at school, it helps to have a variety of options available. To get ready for the first week back, the boys and I went to Price Chopper together. We often go shopping as a family, but this time we were on a #PriceChopperB2S mission for snacks thanks to #CollectiveBias.

Back to School with Price ChopperNHL and JSL had ideas of their own. They asked us to buy ingredients to make smoothies for warm days after school. They both agreed on vanilla Yoplait Greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, and bananas. In addition to that,  I told the boys that I wanted to try to make a trail mix with a twist. My idea was to mix Honey Nut Cheerios into different flavors of Yoplait Greek Yogurt and freeze them. These would then be added to some more traditional trail mix items. The boys had fun going up and down the aisles looking for different choices to put into our trail mix. In the end we picked out roasted edamame (NHL has braces and can not eat nuts), pretzel sticks, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. The next big decision was what flavor of Greek yogurt to select. NHL asked for blueberry and JSL requested strawberry. TechyDad and I also allowed the kids to get a splurge item because we rarely have juice pouches in the house. The new Capri Sun Super V Fruit & Vegetable Juice Drink looked interesting and will help on Hebrew School days when we are rushing.

FYI, did you see that sign in my photo above about winning an iPad mini? Price Chopper customers can enter a first day of school photo contest running from August 17 to September 20. You can vote on your favorite from September 21 to 27. The five winners with the most votes and five random winners will each receive an iPad mini.

Back to School Snack Shopping

Yogurt Covered Cereal Trail Mix

The boys adore Greek yogurt, but they take it in their lunch most days. To switch it up and have something munchy, crunchy, and fun we made a trail mix that included frozen Greek yogurt covered Honey Nut Cheerio clusters. These need to be made ahead of time and added to the mix right when the kids are ready to eat. They will melt, but the cool snack adds a fun twist to a family favorite.

Making Yogurt Covered Cereal Clusters

We set up the kitchen into a mini assembly line. A large cookie sheet was covered with wax paper ahead of time. Each of the boys opened up their container of yogurt and we mixed the cereal in. We put half a cup into each 5.3 ounce container. Once they were mixed well, we put small dollops onto the lined sheet. This was placed into the freezer. After about half an hour they were set and ready to go.

Making Yogurt Clusters

If you are using this snack later on, I suggest taking the clusters off of the cookie sheet and storing them in a freezer safe container. The yogurt clusters will melt if it is warm and that defeats the purpose of the snack. Just mix some of each ingredient into a bowl and voila – it’s snack time! Of course, some kiddos many like a bowl of yogurt clusters on their own. The boys enjoyed the twist on this snack and also asked for some left over Yoplait Greek Yogurt with a quarter cup of Honey Nut Cheerios in it for breakfast the next day. Score!

Yogurt Covered Cereal Trail Mix for Snack

What are some of your favorite snacks for after school? I would love to hear your ideas and whether or not you get the kids involved in the process.

Middle School Supplies and Mabel’s Labels

While many parents have already sent their kids back to school, my boys are still home until after Labor Day. School supply shopping was finally finished over the weekend when we picked up a few odds and ends. As a parent and teacher, I know how important it is to label items brought into school. When Mabel’s Labels asked me if I wanted to try their Stylish Scholars Combo pack, I immediately said yes please!

Mabel's Labels and Middle School Supplies

Mabel’s Labels are not new to us. We have used them for a few years now and they stay right where you put them. The Skinny-Minis™ are able to go into the dishwasher and microwave, the Tag Mates™ may be washed and dried, and the Round Labels and Teeny Tags™ are waterproof and UV resistant. The labels honestly last the entire school year and beyond. While I knew I could get some for JSL to use in second grade, I wanted to focus on my new middle school student. Yes, I needed something for NHL to take to sixth grade and the start of his new middle school career.

Mabel's Labels

Middle school is a rough time in life for kids, so I wanted to find something that was subtle and not babyish. While a hockey stick or robot may have been fine in the past, you never know what another kid may make fun of. The Stylish Scholars Combo had a dozen choices for patterns. When I saw the Camo, I knew it would be perfect for NHL. It was subtle, masculine, and his backpack also has a camouflage pattern. Rather than put his full name on everything, we opted for just our last name. Everything arrived and looks perfect. We had plenty for the supplies needed now and any that crop up during the rest of the year.

Mabel's Labels - Stylish Scholars Combo in Camo

I highly recommend Mabel’s Labels and adore the back to school packages that are available now. There are a wide variety of designs available for young children, Tweens, teens, and adults (talk about a fun teacher gift).

Now please excuse me. I need to figure out how we are hauling the items shown above and more to middle school. Oh and I also plan on cherishing the last few days of our summer before heading back to the hectic school routine.

Happy 2014-2015 school year wishes to everyone as you begin another academic year.
