To cheesecake or not to cheesecake
By TheAngelForever | August 14, 2009
The month of August is filled with many birthdays. First there is JL’s, then my Dad’s (Happy belated B-day on my blog Dad), and NHL’s. For JL’s birthday, he wanted to try a recipe that we found for a tie-dyed cheesecake like the one that we loved at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The cake was decent, but did not live up to our expectations. We came up with modifications that we thought would improve the recipe. Since my father’s birthday was coming up, and he likes cheesecake, we offered to make one for him. Below is a photo of Disney’s cake and our original:

Tuesday evening, JL and I baked another tie-dyed cheesecake altering the recipe in order to better replicate the cake from our Disney dream. Here is a look at our finished product:
JL wrote all about what we did with a lot of photos documenting the process on TechyDad. Head on over there if you would like to take a look at all of the fun we had.
So my question to you is inspired by our cheesecake baking:
What is your favorite type of cheesecake? If you are not a cheesecake fan, what is your favorite dessert?

I’m not a huge cheesecake lover, but every once in awhile it is a good treat. My favorite dessert is chocolate cake. Honestly, to me dessert just isn’t the same unless chocolate is included.

Oh it looks much closer now. I wonder how they get the cake part to look so dark though.
My favorite cheesecake is the banana cream pie cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. I’m not a huge cheesecake fan but they have enough flavoring and whipped cream that it doesn’t taste much like cheesecake afterwards. LOL

I like plain old regular cheesecake. Yum! I’ve tried peanut butter, which was amazing, but more than 2 bites made me too full!
The rainbow cakes are great! I want some!

August 15th, 2009 at 12:16 am
My favorite dessert is rainbow sherbet.
August 15th, 2009 at 9:50 am
I’m really not a cheesecake lover. I prefer chocolate. A good chocolate brownie, no nuts.
August 15th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Hate cheesecake but LOVE your tie-dyed effect.
Favorite dessert? OK, here goes:
Bake a bunch of chocolate-mint brownies with mint frosting. Take one of those brownies just from the oven (a huge portion that would fill up a bowl). Put a few scoops of chocolate-mint ice cream on top (homemade would be best!). Sprinkle everything with Junior Mints. Drizzle some thick hot fudge sauce on top. Top the dessert with REAL whipped cream ~ lots of it. And chocolate shavings. And maybe some more Junior Mints. Or chocolate chips. Or all of the above.
