The month of August is filled with many birthdays. First there is JL’s, then my Dad’s (Happy belated B-day on my blog Dad), and NHL’s. For JL’s birthday, he wanted to try a recipe that we found for a tie-dyed cheesecake like the one that we loved at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The cake was decent, but did not live up to our expectations. We came up with modifications that we thought would improve the recipe. Since my father’s birthday was coming up, and he likes cheesecake, we offered to make one for him. Below is a photo of Disney’s cake and our original:
Tuesday evening, JL and I baked another tie-dyed cheesecake altering the recipe in order to better replicate the cake from our Disney dream. Here is a look at our finished product:
JL wrote all about what we did with a lot of photos documenting the process on TechyDad. Head on over there if you would like to take a look at all of the fun we had.
So my question to you is inspired by our cheesecake baking:
What is your favorite type of cheesecake? If you are not a cheesecake fan, what is your favorite dessert?
Thanks to Kailani at An Island Life for starting this fun for Friday. Please be sure to head over to her blog to say hello and sign the MckLinky there if you are participating.
That’s cool. I love the colours. Bet it tasted really good!
Oooh that is gorgeous! I love good old plain cheesecake. Delicious!
Love the tie dyed cheesecake!!!! Beautiful!!!
My favorite kind is any kind of chocolate cheesecake.
Not a cheesecake fan. I love mint chip ice cream or chocolate mousse cake. Aloha and take care.
That looks yummy! I like cheesecake & my favorite flavors usually have some type of chocolate in them.
That is the wildest cheesecake I have ever seen! :)
My favorite is white chocolate raspberry cheesecake!
Very impressive! I love marble cheesecake.
I’m definitely going to have to try the modified version as soon as I can find an excuse to make a whole cheesecake! Thanks for the recipe!
I love any and all cheesecake, by the way! :)
You did a great job making that. I wouldn’t know where to begin with that one. LOL…
I am not a cheese cake fan but my husband loves the stuff. Me I like a yummy cake. It has to be a good cake but I like cake.
I use to make a low cal cheesecake that was phenomenal!
Carrot cake cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory..Yumm.
I have a cheese cake recipe to die for on my CookBook Site. a link is on my blog.
Cheesecake for me too!
That’s the best looking cheesecake I’ve ever seen! That’s totally awesome!
Cheesecake IS my favorite dessert! With raspberry sauce on top please…….
I’m not a huge cheesecake lover, but every once in awhile it is a good treat. My favorite dessert is chocolate cake. Honestly, to me dessert just isn’t the same unless chocolate is included.
Oh it looks much closer now. I wonder how they get the cake part to look so dark though.
My favorite cheesecake is the banana cream pie cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. I’m not a huge cheesecake fan but they have enough flavoring and whipped cream that it doesn’t taste much like cheesecake afterwards. LOL
I like plain old regular cheesecake. Yum! I’ve tried peanut butter, which was amazing, but more than 2 bites made me too full!
The rainbow cakes are great! I want some!
I love any kind of cheesecake with chocolate :)
I love a good New York style cheesecake with cherry pie topping
Can’t say I’m a cheesecake fan but I’ll always take a bite. Didn’t really know there were different kinds. I’m more of a chocolate cake fan!
wow! what a cool looking cheesecake.
my favorite used to be key lime but i recently discovered cheesecake factory’s lemon-raspberry creme. yuuuumm!
Tough one! Probably Key Lime!
I don’t know if I have ever met a cheesecake I didn’t like. I like a caramel one pretty good.
White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory!
Wow cool tie dyed cheese cake. I really am not a big cheese cake fan. My favorite dessert would be Strawberry shortcake.
My favorite dessert is rainbow sherbet.
I’m really not a cheesecake lover. I prefer chocolate. A good chocolate brownie, no nuts.
Hate cheesecake but LOVE your tie-dyed effect.
Favorite dessert? OK, here goes:
Bake a bunch of chocolate-mint brownies with mint frosting. Take one of those brownies just from the oven (a huge portion that would fill up a bowl). Put a few scoops of chocolate-mint ice cream on top (homemade would be best!). Sprinkle everything with Junior Mints. Drizzle some thick hot fudge sauce on top. Top the dessert with REAL whipped cream ~ lots of it. And chocolate shavings. And maybe some more Junior Mints. Or chocolate chips. Or all of the above. :)
