Baby Booby Biter

JSL is 8 month old today and apparently wants Mommy to think about weaning him (not very seriously – so no need to worry). He is definitely experimenting with his new upper chompers. Unfortunately, the recipients of said experimentation are my poor boobs.

*OUCH*

I try not to react too much and tell him "no bite" when he does it, but now the little monster sweetheart is smiling and starting to laugh. Thanks to this I pull him off and end the nursing session. He has not nursed a lot and is refusing to eat solids today, my guess we have more of those pesky teeth trying to move in.

I guess it is a good thing the little guy is cute. Certainly a defense mechanism for him over the last 24 hours with 6+ bites.

Hopefully he will get the memo and stop this so we can both continue with the nursing routine sans biting!

Oh man, Keeghan hasn’t broken through any teeth yet, but I’m dreading it! When Kassidy was a baby she bit me hard. I bled. I cried. It was horrible. Thank God it only happened once! LOL Ahhh my day is coming!!

Renee: Enjoy you tooth-free time. NHL never really started this until he was a little older. Mind you I do not think that JSL is being naughty on purpose, he is just experimenting. So far he has not broken skin, but I am dreading it since that may happen sooner rather than later.

I am fully convinced these are the reasons God makes them so cute…so they live! LOL

Sandra: I am 110% convinced of this as well!

I had a weekend with Netanel biting me a couple times (by the end of Shabbat he’d bitten 3 times and drew blood).

Stopping the nursing and handing him off to his father helped. He’s only done it a couple times since (today at my aunt’s house being one of them).

Suggestions are to press them into your breast so it covers their nose, so they have to open their mouth to breathe. The putting him down or handing him off is also very important and also, know what signs to look for… Nati bites when he’s bored.

He’s teething something fierce now and his top teeth are going to come through soon… I hear that’s when things get REALLY interesting.

Kmelion: When the top teeth come in is definitely when things get interesting. That is when JSL started this biting. He now has 4 very sharp chompers with which to scrape/bite me with.

He got the message yesterday. I immediately stopped nursing and left him without milk for a while if JL isn’t home to take him. Today has been a lot better. He does not want solids and is nursing very well. Hopefully this continues – the nursing nicely part. I think he is getting more teeth. Last time he refused food and wanted to nurse and nap this much those other pesky ones were pushing through.

I have been lucky, when he bites he unlatches immediately, so I have not had to do the pushing his face thing. If he ever does that I know it works (had to use it with NHL when he was nursing and a vampire).

Good luck and hopefully Nati does better when he gets more of his teeth.
