My poor baby

Just a quick note to update what’s going on with JSL. The poor baby was up 12-14 hours yesterday. He would nap for 15-20 minutes only to wake up screaming. The Tylenol the doctor told us to give him did nothing. When JL got home he looked into JSL’s mouth and was shocked with how much it was coming out. He was a mess all day. He was choking on saliva (5 week olds don’t know to drool it out), had nasty “teething” diapers, and was shoving his fist into his mouth or punch the outside of his cheek with the same fist. JL went out to get some teething toys at the grocery store late last night. He nursed some at about 10 and eventually fell asleep. He fussed when we moved him into bed, but went lost the battle. At 4:40 he woke up for milk and a diaper change. Then went back to sleep eventually until 8:30. He’s asleep again now in the Papasan after nursing some. He’s so miserable he keeps waking to cry and then going back to sleep.

I called the pediatric dentist this morning and we’re going in at 1:00 to see another dentist in their practice. I really didn’t care who I saw so long as we got in quickly. So we shall see what happens. I certainly never thought I would be taking my 5 week old to the dentist.

Teething already?!?!

Today JSL has been a bear. He wants to be held constantly. I think the culprit is something that shocks the heck out of me. He’s cutting a tooth. I kid you not! He’s just 5 weeks old today and cutting a freaking tooth! Heck it isn’t even a usual one, it’s an upper back one. I don’t know if I should call the doctor. I can see and feel white points coming through. The poor baby. He’s been clingy, wanting to eat, having nasty diapers (very much like NHL did when teething), gumming his hand and wants to hug/pet something. Since I had to go do something and put him down for a minute I put him in the Papasan chair and gave him his Tag Blanket to pet that Nancy made. Here’s a photo of the little guy sleeping:

Now I have to figure out to or not to call the doctor. They will think I am insane about the tooth, but I’ve seen one of the points since he was born – and now there are four. Plus when I scratched at it it doesn’t come off, and I felt it was more sharp and it started to bleed a little. *sigh* I am so afraid of what this means. . . I’ve been crying right along with him since he’s so miserable.

Update: called the doctor and waiting for a return call. JSL finally fell asleep mid scream after hysteric for the last 5-6 hours almost non-stop.

On that note he’s calm and I am off to attempt to eat lunch and finish the laundry.

Boys and what they find funny

This just happened minutes ago. JL was getting NHL ready for bed. Just after getting off the potty he said the following to daddy:

“Daddy, look at my penis. . . it’s growing. And my nose, and my head, and my toes, and my belly!”

Then he grabbed his crotch and said “Look a hot dog!”

*sigh* Boys and their toys ;)

Then this afternoon I was holding JSL and talking to him. Suddenly I burped in his little face (I swear it’s the boy influence in the house). The next thing I know he’s laughing at me. Not just smiling, but cooing and giggling with lots of smiles. Since then I keep trying to fake burp, but he apparently knows the difference.

Where did my baby go?

The side by side photos got me thinking. My baby is going to be 4 and is going to real school in September. *sigh* Where did my little NHL go? Here’s another photo comparison of NHL at three days old and at almost 4 at JSL’s bris 3 weeks ago.

It’s so unreal how quickly they grow up. *sniffle* *sniffle*
