Impromptu Baby Blessing

LOL – This just in from NHL.

He asked JL to hold JSL. Then out of no where he said the following:

"Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, celebrate Shabbat baby JSL!"

If you did not know NHL now goes to a Jewish nursery school (integrated program) and they celebrate Shabbos every Friday. So he did his own take on:

"Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, melekh ha’olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu l’hadlik ner shel Shabbat."

The above is the prayer for when you light the Shabbos candles on Friday at sundown.

Good Shabbos all!

H-E Double Hockey Stick evening

Can I please puke now?

Simply put it has been a LONG day.

Jacob is still dealing with a million and one diaper changes. He is keeping milk down for the most part, but his poor rear is red and raw. I took him out quickly (with a bottle of Pedialyte) and got him some Aveeno diaper rash cream. It seems to be helping a lot more than the A&D cream was. Hopefully things will continue to get better and we can go back to eating and drinking normally, but at least he’s nursing some.

Then all H-E Double Hockey Stick broke out this evening. Hubby got a credit card in the mail that he did NOT send for. We called the company and thanks to a zillion red alerts knew that his identity was indeed compromised. We called all of the credit bureaus to alert to fraud and then called the police. So an officer came this evening to take some notes and told us what to do tomorrow and call him back.

*sigh*   Why is this world so complicated these days? Why is it SO darn easy to be a victim? Why so many questions tonight?

I am just getting started! My mind is going a million miles a minute.

I guess the real thing that bothers me is that our "lovely" government does not allow US as consumers to put freezes on OUR credit accounts for free? In other words we have to pay to have a freeze put on and taken off if we want to open a line of credit assuming we want to safety net ourselves.

OK I know why – but it is STUPID STUPID STUPID – greedy pigs complicating things which leave us the citizens exposed to all of this garbage. How nice that all of the big corporations can dictate what  our government does, thus making all of us so susceptible to this crap!

Tummy bug gets the little guy

*yawn*

A sick and clingy baby with frequent diaper changes = tired mommy.

Poor JSL is battling some sort of stomach virus. Yesterday he was unable to keep food (Cheerios, graham cracker, and veggie puffs) along with milk in and down. Thanks to this I called the doctor in the early evening and we did the Pedialyte thing. He kept that in to stay hydrated and was very soggy this morning. Our doctor said if he seemed better in the morning to try nursing again. We did that during the day and he kept it down and in. The only odd thing was that his cheeks were VERY pink. Then the witching hour of 2-3 came and he started to vomit and fill diapers. He was visibly miserable. When we went to change his diaper he would cry since he was so sore. JSL wants to nurse and eat. We tried some Cheerios again at dinner and so far they have stayed in. He is sleeping now and with any luck he will get some rest.

When I picked NHL up at school today they mentioned that people in his room have a stomach bug – so that could solve the mystery. With any luck we can keep hi hydrated and not need to make an emergency trip to the ER.

On that note mommy is heading off to rest . . . since I now hear someone being restless on the monitor.

Over a gallon and a half of Mommy Moo

That is what I just tossed into the garbage from my freezer.

Why?

Well those 200+ ounces of milk were all pumped and frozen in May and June when JSL was not latching on. So all of that was surplus from the beginning that is no longer able to be used. That was 26 bags of milk hogging my freezer space.

Who knew it was that big in there?

*sigh*

So depressing to toss, but better than not enough.

Now I am off to take care of sick JSL. The poor little guy isn’t keeping anything in today. So it is time for more Pedialyte and pumping for Mommy.

Saturday family day (11-24)

Saturday we usually spend the day getting tons of things done that were not accomplished during the week.

This Saturday was different. We were asked to go in the morning to do Shabbos services with my family. Uncle J wanted to stay further from temple and needed people to do everything Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday evening. We gladly went, as did my parents.

Saturday we started with the service, had left over Thanksgiving food for lunch and then everyone just relaxed. Everyone opted not to do television (very nice) so it was quiet and people talked. The kids had things with them to play. NHL refused to nap – which in the end was NOT a good thing. I joined my two aunts and cousins to play some games. One was Scrabble and let me just say it is not good to play when distracted by two children – including one being nipped at by a dog.

We had a great time. Unfortunately, since it was Shabbos I was not able to take photos until sun down. Not to worry I was able to capture some at that point. . . along with some videos (will be posted later).

NHL sitting with Aunt A while Cousin Ha plays the guitar. NHL was SO thrilled with this:

What do you think. . . was NHL happy????

He was just too happy to be able to "play" the guitar and have all eyes on him:

Meanwhile others were surfing the web during the show:

Other cousins did puzzles:

JL then suggested taking a photo from under the glass table. So I did!

Nana and Papa played with JSL:

It is not a smile, but it is an interesting face on my father:

Perhaps JSL’s reaction to Papa’s face:

Mimi taught JSL to "make nice" over the weekend. Here he is trying to pet her face:

Now the boys are so confused from all of the extended family being gone. They have just under two weeks to recover before Chanukah weekend with people back in town!
