New Salads at Wendy’s

Wendy's logo

When I was little, I loved going to Wendy’s with my mother. We would go inside, order a potato and get the salad bar. Of course, salad bars are a thing of the past at Wendy’s. These days, Wendy’s has a wide variety of specialty salads available for people to select from. A short time ago, they introduced four new salads. I was contacted by a PR person representing Wendy’s to review one of their new salads and agreed. They sent me a gift card and asked me to head to the nearest location and order the one that intrigued me the most.

More about the four new Wendy’s Salads

4 New Salads from Wendy's

  • Apple Pecan Chicken Salad – A blend of fresh lettuce and spring mix salad greens, topped with real blue cheese crumbles, U.S. grown, hand-picked Granny Smith and sweet red apple pieces, roasted pecans seasoned with sea salt, cayenne pepper and sugar, dried Ocean Spray cranberries and warm grilled chicken. This salad comes with all natural, preservative-free Pomegranate Vinaigrette dressing.
  • BLT Cobb Salad – A blend of fresh lettuce and spring mix salad greens, topped with two strips of Applewood Smoked Bacon, freshly chopped tomatoes, real blue cheese crumbles, chopped hard boiled eggs and warm grilled chicken. This salad is served with all natural, preservative-free creamy Avocado Ranch dressing.
  • Baja Salad – A blend of fresh lettuce and spring mix salad greens, topped with natural cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, guacamole made with Hass avocados, freshly prepared Pico de Gallo, all natural tortilla chips, and Wendy’s famous rich and meaty chili. This salad is served with all natural, preservative-free Creamy Red Jalapeno dressing.
  • Spicy Caesar Salad – A bed of fresh romaine lettuce topped with vine ripened grape tomatoes, natural shaved Asiago cheese, French bread croutons seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and garlic and Wendy’s famous Spicy Chicken. This salad is served with all natural, preservative-free Lemon Garlic Caesar dressing.

Wendy’s new salads are available nationwide at the suggested retail price of $5.99. Prices will vary. For more on the nutritional information, head online to Wendy’s for details.

What I thought:

Confession, I went to Wendy’s alone and took my salad home. After going out for the first time without kids (the little guy was in nursery school), I stopped by Wendy’s with my giftcard to purchase one of the new salads. I knew going in that I was going to order the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad. I had watched on a morning news show that this was a pretty good pick if you are trying to be conscious about your food intake.

The salad traveled well. When I got it home, it looked just like it did when they packed it into the bag at the restaurant. The first thing I did was unpack my items and took some photos. Here is my lunch:

My Salad

I was most excited to try the Pomegranate Vinaigrette dressing. It did not disappoint. It was light, tangy and just sweet enough. It complimented the different types of greens, blue cheese, pecans, chicken, dried cranberries, and apples perfectly. It was not too heavy and once I mixed it up I thoroughly enjoyed it. Most of the time, I am a romaine lettuce person, but I really thought the mix of salad greens in this were nice. Nothing was biter, too leafy and my children probably would have tried it.

Next time I head to Wendy’s, I know what I will be buying. The best thing is that I can now go to their online nutritional guide and personalize my salad to see calories, fat, fiber and other details the way I decide to eat my salad. If I leave off the pecans, I know what it will do. This is extremely nice and helpful to those on Weight Watchers and other programs.

Peace, Love and Pixie Dust

Anyone that knows me, understands that I have a love for all things Disney. Growing up, I went to Walt Disney World almost yearly. I still remember the time I was bribed to go on Space Mountain as a kindergartener and seeing EPCOT for the first time.

Love for Figment begins

When it was time to plan my honeymoon, I was able to convince TechyDad that Disney World would be the perfect destination for us. He had never been and it had a while since my last visit. I think I put as much, if not more, planning into our Disney World honeymoon. We stayed at the Beach Club Resort which was magical alone. We went on several behind the scene tours and dined at amazing restaurants each day.

2001 Disney Memories

As our boys got older, we thought it was the perfect time to take them to Disney World. I actually selected going to Disney World with the entire family over going to Chicago to BlogHer in 2009.  I sat and planned out our meals, hotel, and where we would go (park wise) each day. The trip was even more magical since my parents went with us. It was only fitting since they are the first generation of Disney vacation fanatics in the family. I learned so much from watching my mother plan each and every trip to Disney World over the years.

Our only photo with all 6 of us

Then it was announced that there would be the Disney Social Medial Moms Celebration at Disney World in February. With less than a month to spare, I planned a week long visit for the four of us to Disney World. It was beyond magical and amazing. Meeting people in person that I had talked with online at Walt Disney World was a dream come true.

Those dreams do come true

The truth is, I love talking, writing, and helping to plan Disney vactions. Family and friends often e-mail or call me for my thoughts and suggestions. I honestly will drop anything for my love of Disney since it is such a genuine passion of mine.

So today, I wish everyone applying to the Disney Moms Panel much Peace, Love & Pixie Dust. I know that I will be following my heart and hoping to be part of this special group of men and women.

An angel and books Pandora style

Last December, my mother asked me to figure out what I would like for my Birthday. I am horrible at putting myself first and coming up with ideas of things that I would like. You see, this was not just a gift for last year, it was also for the year before that. Finally, I decided that I would really like to look at Pandora bracelets. I really liked the idea of making a bracelet that had beads that were filled with memories.

This is what my bracelet looked like when I originally received it.

My Pandora bracelet

I have the two boys and a Murano glass bead that looks like each birthstone. A week or so after this, TechyDad bought me the forget me-knot bead to symbolize our marriage.

Just after that, I received a gift certificate to Pandora from my Aunt S and Uncle M. I knew that I wanted to get the angel charm, but also wanted to get one to represent TechyDad. Sad to say that Pandora has nothing technology based. So I waited to see if anything new and perfect would come along.

Pandora mentioned new beads several times, but nothing really perfect came along. Last night, I decided to go to the local Pandora store with my mother to see what new beads they had. I really wanted to use my gift certificate before I accidentally misplaced it. There were two beads that immediately caught my eye. I quickly decided to go for it. Here is a look at my Pandora bracelet with the two new additions.

Bracelet gets new additions

I went with the angel thanks to The Angel Forever. The book symbolizes being a teacher and having my Masters Degree in Reading. Of course, I have my eye on a few other great beads, but still looking for just the right one that represents TechyDad. Now if only Pandora would team up with Think Geek. A girl can dream right?

Bag it Forward with Elmer’s and Adopt-A-Clasroom Program

As an educator, I love programs that support students and teachers in classrooms. Many people do not realize how much time and money are put into classroom supplies by the professionals teaching your child day in and day out. I know that when I was in the classroom, I did not blink twice and just bought what I needed since it would benefit the kids.

Thanks to Maricris at Zensible Mama, I found out about a great new program from Elmers glue and Walmart. She sent me a virtual bag of school supplies like the one below.

Virtual-Elmers-Bag-it-forward

Now, it is my turn. The reason I am participating is the fun and fabulous cause. Each person that writes a blog post or puts a note in Facebook earns $10 for charity. Elmer’s will donate up to $10,000 to Adopt-A-Classroom when you participate through Elmer’s Virtual Bag it Forward.

So now it is my turn to give some virtual supplies to people. Here is my gift to all of you:

School Supplies for you

So now I am asking for a little help from my blogging friends. Should you opt in (if you have not already) by the end of the deadline and post on your blog or Facebook let me know and I will stop by. Here are some of the people that I am asking to join in:

This list was in no particular order and if you want to join in let me know and I will link you up. Thank you for helping out a great cause.
