My Tub Song!

The other day while nursing JSL I was bored and decided to make up a song about him going to take a tub. So NHL helped me to come up with something. Here it is:

I stink
PU!
I need
A Tub-a-roo!

NHL was laughing hysterically. It was getting to see him laugh and be silly with me. This song was revised again today for JSL’s first pseudo real tubby in our new purchased today. This will be posted shortly.

Headache – OB Check & More Baby Photos

What a day! I woke up with the headache from hell. Nothing has helped it all day. I think kids know when you don’t feel good and automatically raise their volume. *sigh*

Then at about 9:00 I finally sucked it up and called my OB’s office because I was concerned about my bleeding and episiotomy incision. This time the incision didn’t bother me as much as it did when I had NHL, but the bleeding has gone on longer than before. I talked with a nurse who told me to come in and have it looked at. She said it should be healed up by now (almost 4 weeks), but if something is wrong it’s best to catch it now and not be stuck with it for 30+ years.

So I got JSL ready and we went in. I had to wait about 45 minutes to get in since one of the doctors had to leave to deliver a baby. So I saw the doctor that delivered NHL. He asked me who did the delivery. Then he told me that the bleeding is not my incision, it’s still my cervix and is fine. He then noted that the incision was not stitched up quite even. WTH? He was very calming and told me that it’s nothing to freak out about. He doesn’t know why, but the body will self correct this. He told me that may be why it’s suddenly bothering me. So this is definitely something I will ask the other OB about when I go back in 2 weeks for my 6 week check. So we shall see how things go, but I am anticipating a lot of pain in my future :(

Onto better things. JSL took a nice nap in his Pack N’ Play today. . . very nice for mommy not to have to hold him and nice for the headache. It gave me time to work on 22 thank you notes (note I already sent out over 25 before just to my students and co-workers). Here is a picture of him sleeping:

To prove that the little guy does open his eyes. . . here are two other photos.

Here’s a photo of JSL last night watching the hockey game (well I was at least):

Now I just need to get more photos of NHL and JSL together.

I am off to help get NHL out of the tub and into bed (quiet would be nice instead of an almost 4 year old being so LOUD). He’s quite cranky tonight and could use some extra sleep.

3 Week Check up

Today is my mother’s birthday and she just happened to have the day off. She went with me to take JSL to have his 3 week check up. It was really important to me since the day after our visit (a week ago) JSL figured out how to nurse. He’s actually only had a bottle 3-5 times since then.

When we were called back we were called back by the nurse that I do NOT like. I didn’t say anything. She had me undress JSL to do a weight and length check. She measured him at 20 1/4 inches – just 1/4 inch growth. WTH? I knew something was up there since he’s outgrown some of the smaller in length clothes already. Then for the weight check. It was less than his birth weight – mid 8’s or something like that. I quickly questioned this and she tried it again, barely 9. I was not happy. When the PA came in for the check I told him I was not happy. He was not either. At the end of checking JSL he had another nurse come in. This time JSL’s stats seemed a lot more on. He was 21 inches long and 9 lbs 7 oz. . . which is 2 oz more than a week ago (and 8 ounces up from birth weight).

Everything else checked out great with the little guy. His next well visit is at 2 months (5 weeks from now) and both of us are having a shots that day. I am having a DTaP as well since it’s been so long since I’ve had one and I really need the pertussis since I was never able to have the shots when I was little since it caused such a violent reaction.

On that note I best be off JSL is staring to stir. Here are some photos of the little guy from today:

Odds and Ends

Today while JSL and I were out visiting school it started to rain horribly. When I was driving home my parents mentioned it had hailed during the storm. Upon arriving home I saw a pile of white pellets in the corner of the front patio. I put JSL in the house and went back outside to look at things. Sure enough it was hail still sitting there. In fact I looked at the things that NHL had planted and some of the pumpkins didn’t look too good after the storm. Here’s a photo of them so you can see the strange sighting for the last day of May:

NHL is still very anxious to hold his little brother. Here’s a photo of Thing 1 “holding” Thing 2 (JSL was NOT happy since he was hungry at the time):
