I Give Up – Sickies Win

Would someone PLEASE give the message to all bacteria and viruses that I officially give up?!?!  They win and can go the H-E Double Hockey Sticks away! Seriously it is now technically spring (not that you would know from the weather here) and we can not seem to shake being sick here. OK – so technically we went about two weeks without anything, but now BAM it is back in force.

Saturday night NHL was not feeling well. He woke up throughout the night with a barking/hacking croupy cough and fever. We gave him meds and kept him quiet most of the day. Sunday I was in agony. Before going to bed Saturday night I told JL that my right breast was killing me. It felt a little warm and if anything brushed up against it I was ready to scream. I went to bed and hoped for the best. JSL woke up during the night thanks to NHL being sick and nursed on it (something he never does in the night) and it was horrible. The shooting pain just kept getting worse all day and I ached all over. Needless to say we were quite a group on Sunday. Sunday night JL helped me to hot compress my breast to try to help it in case it was mastitis starting to settle in. At this point I was ready to try anything since I was in tears and had chills.

Yesterday we took NHL to the doctor. His fever would not stop climbing if he did not have Tylenol or Motrin in him. We got there and got a virus diagnosis, but he did have fluid in his ears. *sigh*    I went to my doctor to have myself looked at since they wanted to see me. The NP said that she could tell from me still being swollen that there was definitely a very clogged duct at one point. She was very happy that I was able to keep the mastitis away at least at this point. She told JSL to stop biting me and causing the cracking on my poor body and told me she would look into something else for me. She also gave me a prescription for an antibiotic just in case I need it for mastitis if it comes back.

Fast-forward to last night. NHL’s coughing woke up JSL. We decided to keep JSL in our room and not expose him any further to the night coughing of NHL. NHL’s fever was soaring high and Motrin and Tylenol are not controlling it – not even together. I ended up sleeping in NHL’s bed with him for 3 hours to keep him in bed. I am sure I am in for this next thanks to the coughing exposure. Right now (5:30) his temperature with Motrin (6-8 hour medicine) given at 2:00 is 101.8. We gave Tylenol and are hoping it kicks in. He has not had a febrile seizure since he was 11 months old, but the scare is always there. . . especially since I will be home with both of the boys alone today (JL was home yesterday).

On that note I am off. JSL just woke up and now he is coughing too. *sigh*

If you could please help me to reinforce the message to the sickies to GO AWAY!

My First Knit-A-Long

Wahoo! I officially finished my first ever knit-a-long (KAL) and it was a lot of fun. I joined a Yahoo knitting group called Rachel’s Knitting Room. The woman who found the group is Rachel and she designs lots of amazing items that can be found on Knits by Rachel. The KAL this month was to celebrate the Yahoo groups first birthday. Each day of the KAY Rachel would reveal 10-11 rows of the design for everyone to knit. As you knit the mystery of the cloth is revealed.

I decided to take photos after each day to let everyone see how the KAL unfolded. Here they are in order.

KAL 3/17 - Rows 1-11

 KAL 3/17 - Rows 1-21

 KAL 3/17 - Rows 22-31

 KAL 3/17 - Rows 32-41

KAL 3/17 - Rows 42-51

 KAL 3/17 - Rows 52-61

 KAL 3/17 - All Done!!!

Congratulations to Rachel and Happy Birthday to the Yahoo group! I can not wait to try out my next KAL.

7 Facts About Moi

Candi from ~~All Day Night~~ tagged me for a new meme that CityStreams had previously tagged me with and I never had time to do it. So girls here ya go!

I am trying to come up with some new things that I did not use for the 8 Things About Moi version that I had done way back in October.

Rules are:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are some things about moi. . . .

1 – Suddenly I am quite the wash cloth knitting addict. I can not stop making the things. I think I like them because they are quick and easy to do and they do not cost an arm and a leg. One of these days I will branch out more into hats and mittens – not too interested in making socks (sorry Laura).

Gumdrop DW Cloth

Pretty yarn!

Furry Red Monster - Wash Cloth

More cotton yarn

2 – When JL moved here to live with me (when we were engaged before our wedding) the deal was that I would keep a kosher kitchen for him. So no shellfish in this house and no yummy chicken parm making here  *sigh*  Thanks to this we have two sets of dishes (dairy and meat) and have to label watch to make sure things are kosher for consumption at Chez Moi! I will not even mention the Passover dishes which need to come out WAY too soon for my liking.

3 – I am very bummed about not being able to make it to my Cousin M’s wedding in a few short weeks. Back when Cousin D got married JL promised me that we would head west for M’s when she got married. Unfortunately things do not always work out as planned. So down the road we will plan a trip out to see Cousin M and B and check out all of the fun things by them. Disneyland anyone????

4 – Shocking as it may seem I have NEVER seen a Harry Potter movie in the theater. All have been viewed at home on DVD. A pregnancy, birth or other random item has always messed up going out for the experience (we will not even factor in the price part). One of my students used to laugh at me over this fact and thought it was hilarious that I was reading one of the books when my water broke with NHL.

5 – My husband is screwed for Valentine’s Day. Keep your mind’s out of the gutter people!  As I was saying, I do not like chocolate and I do not like to watch flowers die . . . talk about a waste of money in my mind. I love the fact that I still have the bouquet from my wedding and the flowers that were on my chuppah that I was married under.

6 – I love having two boys. Although I will not be able to take a daughter to buy a wedding dress, there are some big perks. Daddy will need to take them both to the bathroom in a few years. There will be no need to buy them feminine hygiene products. Only one person in the house with PMS. Weddings will not cost us as much. Boy clothing seems to be a lot less expensive. Not a lot of jewels to make boys happy. Man I could go on and on!

'tis my boys

7 – I am still debating what to do about next year. This is the season to put resumes out for teaching in the fall, but I do not know if it is the best thing for our family now. Right now the boys need me, so I am thinking and looking at other options that I can do while home with them.

Feel free to do this or not do it and add yourself to this list too if I did not include you. Link to your facts on my comments to share with everyone if/when you do this meme.  BTW – Since Easter is tomorrow for all of the people I am tagging I am not pestering you with a note about being tagged in your comments. You will see this here or the linky love that will show up.

Weekend Party Mini-Vacation – Part 3 The Party!

After checking out of the hotel we went to to my SIL’s house to let the kids play and celebrate Cousin A’s 4th birthday and Cousin S’s 1st birthday. We arrived at practically the same time as Bubbe and Grandpa (JL’s parents). They gave our boys presents outside. Then suddenly the fire department showed up. I kid you not, the entire department with trucks came to the party. Apparently they tried to call Aunt J, but did not get them. The fire alarm in their house was going off from the steam of Uncle J’s shower. Ooops!

Below are some photos of the party (sans the one from yesterday of JSL skirt chasing little S.)

NHL sporting his pirate gear. He was flying around the house with cousin A playing pirates.

Ahoy there Captain NHL

JSL had a nice time visiting with Grandpa. Later on Grandpa really made him happy by feeding him some potato chips.

Getting a close look at Grandpa

Bonding with Grandpa and potato chips

Are you talking to me?

Both boys had fun playing with new and exciting toys.

Play time!

Trying to get away

A frightening scene was caught that I do not recall in Peter Pan.

Darn crocodile! At Cousin S's 1st and Cousin A's 4th B-day party.

NHL did not seem bothered by it.

H-O-N-K!

Finally it was time to eat. Bubbe and Grandpa brought bagels and lox. Check out the cool bagels for the kids in honor of St. Patricks Day.

Do you see a problem here?

After a yummy lunch it was time for cake. Aunt J made them herself. The Pirate was for Cousin A’s 4th birthday and Mickey Mouse for Cousin S’s 1st birthday.

The cakes made by Aunt J

NHL and JSL both enjoyed the cakes.

NHL loved the cake

Mickey ears taste yummy!

As you can see even Cousin S enjoyed his 1st birthday cake!

1st B-day cake mash!

After the cake we cleaned up the kids and opened up presents. Then it was time to head off for our adventure home. Thankfully both of the boys fell asleep in the car and woke up when we were close to home.
