Time with Great Grandkids

Two years of campaigning by many candidates is now over and done with. The memories of the other men and women, the mud slinging, the constant television ads, and everything else that we witnessed during that time will soon be a distant memory.
Today all eyes will be on the inauguration of Barack Obama as he becomes the 44th President of the United States.
Everyone in the world will be listening to see what President Obama has to say during his inauguration speech. All of us, no matter what our political beliefs are hoping that he will bring positive change and restore hope to our country. So many negative issues face people within the United States today. Now, we need to watch and see how the Obama administration works to fix the mess that is our reality.
Change is not easy, and it does not come quickly. Americans need to remember that it took many years to get into the current situation, and it will take time to resolve it.
Best wishes to Barack Obama as he enters the hardest job in the world. A thankless task is ahead of him and we all hope he will be the answer that our country so desperately needs for many reasons.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. It was a dream that many of us feared would never be seen in our lives, no less by our children. How fitting, that on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day our country is gearing up for a historic inauguration that will take place tomorrow. In 24 hours, all eyes will shift to Washington DC where Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Like many other events in our country’s history, people will likely be asked in years to come where they were during this moment in time.
Do you have any special plans?
Tomorrow NHL has a big day at school for the festivities. The children were all asked to wear red, white and blue. There will be a full school assembly and other activities taking place throughout the day. No doubt he will remember where he was during the time. I will try to watch as much of the television coverage as possible so I can tell JSL all about it when he is older.
Hopefully, everything will go smoothly for all of those in Washington DC as our country gears up for a monumental change. No matter which political party you belong to, we are all wishing this administration the best of luck in this very difficult world that we live in.
Thanks to Kim at Beanish and Other Languages I’m Learning I found a fun new meme that is perfect for a snowy Sunday morning.
Here is the Grilling Goodness questions for this week. Please head over and play along.
1. Do you like scary movies? Not really. I still remember when I read a scene from Silence of the Lambs that I had not watched (hiding behind a blanket) and was unable to sleep for nights. I can only imagine if I had seen it.
2. What kind of cell phone do you have? A very basic LG phone.
3. Do you have a passport? Not yet. We have only been to Canada and do not need it to travel there yet.
4. Has anything sad happened in your life this week? Thursday we heard that JL’s grandmother is not doing well. We are trying to arrange for him to go and visit her.
5. Have you ever broken any bones? No I have not.
6. Did you do anything this week that you don’t normally do? Thursday I spent the afternoon with my mother. She had the day off since she is working this weekend. We sat part of the afternoon and looked at menus for Disney World.
7. What’s the worst thing you ever had in your wardrobe? That would be hard to say since I was a teen in the 80’s!
8. Did you have braces on your teeth? No, I had a procedure when I was little that allowed my two front teeth to go together and avoided years of orthodontics.
Thanks to Tina at Golden Goodness for hosting all of this fun!
Dear NHL,
It is still hard for me to believe that my little boy is in kindergarten. You are already reading, writing, and doing more and more each day. Last night you blew me away with your recall on a song. A song that you have only heard a few times with Nana and Papa. When I said "Mama Mia" about something you suddenly started to sing the chorus of the song. Of course, I had to capture this moment on video and you were your sweet self and agreed to ham it up for my camera.
Thank you for being such a wonderful kiddo and making me smile with your charm.
I love you,
Mommy
