End of week in review

What a week it has been.

Wednesday morning I had an appointment with my boss to talk with her. The tough decision was finally decided on and I had to go in. I went in to resign and become a SAHM. As I had previously posted it just didn’t pay. We talked with JL’s uncle (our accountant) and when all was said and done I would have taken home less then $3500 a year after taxes and child care expenses. . . major slave waves! I will miss my co-workers a lot and hope to see them often.

I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the principal and VP were. They were shocked, but very happy for me and the family. They thought it was great that I could do it, but admitted they selfishly wished I was still there. In the end the principal hugged me as I was leaving to take JSL home to eat. The kicker – another person left there on Monday – YIKES!

Wednesday afternoon I went to the OB’s office to try to close out the post-partum visits. This was a post-op check up (from the D&C) and also to redo the papsmear that didn’t work. I saw the NP that I saw most of my pregnancy. She said everything looked good and she said how much better I looked than last time she saw me. I asked her about the double-lobed placenta. She wasn’t sure and wanted to bring in the doctor, but it was the one that delivered JSL and ignored me when I said something was wrong twice when I called after his birth. I explained why I was declining and she understood. Here’s the odd part. When we went out to the desk and the NP told the doctor to look at the baby and see how big he was – she wouldn’t look up at us at all. Hmmmmm. . . makes me think the other doctor may have said something to her.

Thursday JSL was still not doing so hot after the shots from Tuesday. We stayed in and he barely nursed all day. He just wanted to sleep close to me.

Friday we went out to have lunch with H at her house. We stayed there and JSL must have decided to make up for lack of nursing the day before. I had my boob out there more than ever. Poodle was so in love with JSL. She kept licking him and watching over him while he was nursing. She got so upset when he cried. It was a sad day since H is going back to work now and won’t be off this summer.

I will post in a few about the weekend and sick NHL in a few. *sigh*

2 Month check up

Today JSL and I went to the doctor for his 2 month well visit. Before the doctor saw him I had my TDaP shot. If you don’t know what this is here’s some information for you and any adult in your child’s life:

http://www.doitforyourbaby.com/index.html

They are really pushing to get the word out about this booster shot for adults, especially for people with children under the age of 1.

After my shot it was time to weight and measure JSL. Last time we were there a month ago he was 9 lbs 7 oz. Today he weighed in at a whopping 12 lbs 3 oz. I think the nurse wasn’t quite on with the length since he was squirming. He’s measuring in at 21 1/2, but I think he’s longer than that. Today we actually saw the doctor and not the PA. He was very impressed with how strong JSL is and how much head control he has already. He also noticed how he’s ready to try to take off rolling and creeping when put on his tummy. I am doomed with this one! Anyway, everything looks good. We’re still going to see how his tummy does before starting reflux meds. He doesn’t think it’s anything out of the norm for his age. His circumcision was checked and he said it looks great, my concerns are basically just his sensitive skin. He did mention that his testicles are swollen still and that should continue to go down as he gets older (they already are so much better than they were when he was born).

After the visit it was vaccination time for JSL. The nurse came in and told me he was due for 5 shots, but if we wanted 3 were available in one together. So needless to say we opted for that option and he received 3 shots. He’s really off tonight – puking/pooping and running a temperature even with Tylenol. Ugh, these things are so evil for little babies! We’re debating waking him up now since he’s due for another does now. The bad news – when he goes back in September he will need 4 shots – *sigh* When we do go back we made our appointment with the new doctor to meet her.

On that note I am off. It’s likely to be a “fun” post immunization evening and I have the meeting with my boss tomorrow at 11:00 and then my post-op visit at 2:15.

Swing, Sleep & Play!!!

The other day I asked JL to get the Take-Along Swing out that we had from NHL. He got it out and below is a photo of JSL in it for the first time. This swing was something that NHL LOVED. He was always happy in it. He loved the movement and being able to watch things. It was also a great way to keep him up after eating.

JSL’s first time in the swing:

Sunday night JL decided to rent a game for the Wii. He got Cars and he played that while I fed JSL and did a few other things. After a while we actually managed to have both boys to sleep pretty early in their room. Here’s a photo of the way I found them at one point when I went to look at them:

This week we are going to try to get the crib up into the room. JSL is just all over the place in the Pack N’ Play bassinet. He needs more space to rest in when he’s in there. After all he’s now sleeping 5-8 hours more nights and only gets up once to nurse and then goes back to sleep soon after.

In addition to sleeping, JSL is really starting to do more and more each day. He has already rolled over from his tummy to back at least once. He’s drooling and teething like crazy (and he’s only 7 weeks old). He likes to laugh and “talk” to people and smile all the time. Within the last week he started to really like playing with toys. He’s really figuring out that his arms can get/hit things that are in front of him. Here’s a photo of JSL playing on his play mat with some toys. As you can see when I tried to do tummy time with him the result was not quite what I was looking for.

On that note I am off since I think I hear the little guy stirring.

Holy Cow!

JSL went into his Pack N’ Play bassinet last night a little after 9:00 last night. As always I put him on his tummy. This morning at about 4:20 I started to hear him fuss. I walked into the room and look at him staring at me. I did a double take! Sure enough he rolled onto his back this morning. I heard him “chatting” this morning before I went into the room. We had seen him on his tummy using his feet ass pivot points, but he had never quite had enough push to go all the way over. Guess he does now. It will be interesting to see how long it take him to do it again and realize what he’s done.

*sigh* He’s growing up so fast already. . . and he’s only 6 weeks old!

On that note I am heading to the hospital in the next 20 minutes or so.

Weekend update & Tub Follies

Boy do the weekends go quickly.

Yesterday we got ready in the morning for L, D and I to come over. D was coming to help JL to put the AC in the upstairs so we can clean it up and turn it into a playroom to utilize the space there. Unfortunately NHL was in a foul mood and did not want to play with I. For the first few hours NHL was in his room sulking and crying on his bed. He kept calling for me and asking me to play. He was a mess. Jealousy and things really seem to be hitting hard, but in a way where he’s very depressed acting. Based on the behavior we asked my parents to watch the baby so we could do a special big boy night out. We offered it up tonight and he declined to stay with Jacob at Nana and Papa’s house.

Back to yesterday. So while NHL had a fit, the rest of us watched as D and L tried JL’s Nintendo Wii. Then we all realized it was late so L and I went out to get pizza to bring back for everyone. By this time NHL was finally starting to play with I, but was still very cranky. Everyone left after the late lunch and while I was nursing JSL, JL took NHL into his room. I thought they were reading a book, but they fell asleep. I had to get JL up to take JSL so I could go to the pharmacy to pick up my medicine.

During all of this my bleeding continued. It is the same thing every day. At night it’s almost gone and I think it may end. Then from 8-1 it gets really bad and I feel horrible. I’m cringing at the thought of the ultrasound tomorrow, but I want this to end. I seem to be making up for all of the months with no period in the last 6 weeks.

Last night we stayed in and just had a nice night home. I sorted out JSL’s new clothes in 3-6 month, got NHL’s stuff out and washed it. Too bad we didn’t have any gift receipts for some of the things because we have a lot of items in this size and won’t have others since NHL and JSL are going to be different sizes in different season. Oh well.

JSL went to sleep at 10:30 in his room with NHL. He slept all night and woke up a little after 7 this morning. This morning we met up with my father for breakfast at “Bob’s Diner” for our anniversary. After that we went to Target for a few things (forgot to get more burp cloths) and then tried to get NHL’s hair cut. Unfortunately the girl that does the best and will deal with his fits with the clippers wasn’t there. Then we went home since I was cramping a lot again and needed to rest.

At home we did lunch and then the boys went outside to play with NHL’s soccer net. JSL and I eventually went outside and we had a nice time outside talking with our neighbor. NHL and I look like we may have slight sunburn since we didn’t put anything on and stayed out too long. BAD MOMMY! Then we came in and my parents called to see what we were going to do with the boys for dinner. NHL opted to go to their house with JSL. So, JL and I went out to dinner together and did a little shopping at the mall before that. After we went to the rents house and they had a cookie cake for our anniversary. Then we went home, got NHL into bed and it was time to tub the little monkey that smelled from spitting up so much.

It was the never ending tub with thing after thing that happened. To sum it up:

1 – A little poop in tub. Mommy cleans it out and back in.
2 – WHOA BABY – major action in the rear . . . lots more poop in tub. (Note this is a little tub in the sink – so it gets nasty quickly).
3 – Baby out of tub to clean it one more time. While out he manages to pee all over me (*rolling eyes*)
4 – Back into the tub again only to puke in the water this time and successful washing. Thank goodness since we were running out of clean baby wash cloths that I could locate.
5 – We managed to get him out and dressed without any more “fun” However interesting to note while Daddy was dressing him he was crying and farting to a beat. The kid is musical already!
6 – After cleaning up the tub the baby was ready to reload and nursed himself to sleep.

Now the little guy is resting quietly in the papasan chair until we put him into bed in a few minutes.

I am off to rest since I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow at 11:00 when I have the ultrasound and find out the results of the pathology from what the removed.
