Beans!

After eating dinner tonight I took NHL to get him ready for bed. JL took the little guy to make sure he was all set. NHL went to the bathroom, brushed and flossed his teeth with me and then ran to the other boys.

As I got near there I heard JL exclaim "BEANS!"

I questioned this since I thought I had missed something . No, he had simply said beans.

Thinking about our meal yesterday evening I asked if JSL had gas since he ate some kidney beans.

JL said "No. . . BEANS!"

Hmmmmm. . . .  think, think, think!

OH! It finally hit me. JL was doing a diaper change, DUH. Apparently we are now able to confirm that JSL’s digestive system "processes" beans in just about 24 hours.

When NHL heard that there were beans in JSL’s diaper he ran over to JL and asked: "Can I see?"

NO, we did not show him.

When putting NHL to bed later on we tossed JSL in with him and told him he was his new "buddy" to cuddle with. I just warned that this one likes to pee, poop and puke in his sleep.

Without missing a beat NHL looks at me and says "Oh, so I’ll have beans in my bed!"

Priceless I tell you.

Night out with our big boy

Last night I went out on a date with my two oldest boys . . . you know my hubby and 4 year old. The little guys stayed with Nana and Papa so we could do something special with the big boy.

We let NHL decide where he wanted to go for dinner. I told him about a new place that we had never been to that had a place to play games near it. He liked the sound of that since there were no costumes.  Once JL was home we dropped JSL off and went to Old Chicago for dinner.

We had a nice relaxing dinner that involved trying to keep NHL from falling asleep. We managed by taking him to the game room to see what we would do after he ate his dinner. This helped since he saw there was a bowling game that he was anxious to try out. Our meal was good, but not something I would likely go back to soon (although I do want to try their lunch special one day).

After our meal was done NHL quickly pulled us to the game room. We bought a card with points on it to play. As you will see NHL really liked the bowling. It was sort of like candlestick bowling (small balls), but regular scoring, and only 5 frames. Here are some photos of the little guy testing out the game.

Night out with our big guy

It was so cute to watch NHL grab JL’s hand the first few times he was playing (by the third game later on he was a pro).

Checking out the bowling alley

At first he wanted to roll the ball down by putting it between his legs this way (front view):

Don't you love his technique?!?!

It worked nicely this way (front view below), but later he realized that with the balls being small he could toss them other ways.

And the ball begins it's journey

Too bad he never really liked it.

One excited little boy!

The suspense was just too much while waiting for the ball to head down the alley and knock over pins.

Watching to see the results

He even tried to yell persuade the ball to move in another direction.

No, go that way!

Oh well, maybe next time it will work!

Hmmm. . . what did you say?

Each time he would check and count to see how many were knocked over.

Making sure how many were knocked over.

And this pose just made me laugh. Cute, n’est pas?!?!

He really started to get into this

We had a great time and went to pick up JSL afterward. He was very happy to see his milk jugs mommy. . . daddy and big brother too. Thanks again to Nana and Papa for making this fun evening possible. Love you guys!

Baby wrangling at the gynecologist – a new sport!

On Friday I had a 9:30 appointment for my 6 month follow up to the 6 week after baby/surgery exam. Get that?

JSL went with me and chatted up a storm as we waited. I was finally called back to a room and at about 10:30 the nurse practitioner. I opted to see her since she saw me most of my pregnancy and I really like her.  So I was told what to do and left JSL in his stroller while covering myself with the "fun" paper sheet around my waist.

Don’t all of you ladies out there just LOVE that sexy paper sheet?!?!

JSL was not happy being in there and when the NP came in he got very defensive when she was doing my breast exam. Ya know – he does not like it when other people touch his food – LOL!

So she asks to pick him up and put him on my chest. Then she tells me to get ready for my "fun" exam.

***Note to those of you out there – man is it a bitch pain in the rear to move on the exam table, while wrangling a crying almost 8 month old on your chest, and having the paper sheet under your booty stick. That just did not work. The NP saw me struggle and took JSL for me to move up into position (UGH – nightmares of the last exam and what the doctor said). Then she gave him back and he cried and wiggled the entire time.

Ummmm. . . hello I am the one with well you know what, you know where and he was crying – typical male!

Luckily things are a-ok and I was given information to look at and call back when JSL is weaned and/or my period comes back and I want to investigate other options if my endometriosis acts up again.

Aren’t you glad I shared this with you – LOL!  Now if all goes well I will not go back for a year – doing my happy dance.
