Wow, Wow. . . what a weekend

Thank goodness NHL’s eye is doing so much better. The antibiotic drops really seem to be helping. The croup cough will not go away, so I will likely give a call to the allergists office Tuesday when his doctor is back from vacation. Something needs to help him and perhaps it is using the nebulizer that has been sitting and collecting dust.

Before eating last night I decided to take JSL out of the house. He had been stuck inside all day. I wanted to get to Rite Aid because they had amazing deals on cold care items. There were two entire pages in thier ad of items that were free after single check rebate. I decided it was finally time to try something beside CVS and the ECBs. Below are all of the items that I purchased. The cost up front was about $43, but I should get all of that back in a single check rebate. Not too bad, especially since we are all battling things now.

When JSL and I arrived back home our pizza was ready. NHL had already eaten some and wanted to go watch television. He was so tired after refusing to nap all day. He was too afraid that his eye would close shut again. While JL, JSL and I finished dinner NHL went to relax on the couch. One minute he was chatting away, the next we found him like so:

Fell asleep mid chat

Something that the boys loved this weekend actually arrived at our door Thursday. It was the Wow Wow Wubbzy giveaway package that I won from 5 Minutes for Mom. Talk about perfect timing! The boys loved watching the A Tale of Tails DVD and each claimed one of the books. Here are all of the goodies that were included. Thanks again ladies!

Wow, Wow . . . what a win!

Something pretty exciting happend to the little guy tonight, details to follow soon.

An eye glue experience

Dear NHL,

Right now you are sleeping peacefully in your bed. This is a very good thing after the last few days. I know you do not understand everything that is going on, but mommy and daddy will take care of you. We promise to get your allergies under control so that the stuffy nose and cough leave you alone.

Just when we thought that was the only thing going on you woke up screaming and so scared just before 4:00 this morning. When Daddy arrived in your room you declared that your eye was stuck shut. Sure enough your left eye had junk all around it. You were such a brave kiddo letting Daddy get everything off. Of course you would not go back to sleep. You were too afraid of your eye getting glued shut again.

When we went to the doctor today you were such a big boy telling them everything that was wrong. You even mentioned how you bit your own hand while eating breakfast. Thank goodness we found out that your breathing is nothing serious, your ears look fine, but the eye is a different story. You most definitely have pink eye (Mommy knew that) and now have to use medicine for a week.

I know that you hate having eye medicine, but please try to be brave. When you kick, scream, and move around it only takes that much longer. Daddy and I promise to do our part to make this go as quickly as possible.

To Urgent Care we go

 I love you kindergarten kid,

Mommy

Croquet for Columbus Day

If the weather would stay like it is right now I would be perfectly happy. The weekend was absolutely gorgeous and 70 degrees each day. The sun was out and the sky clear. It even made sick me want to go outside to enjoy it for a little while.

Saturday while JSL was taking a nap, JL and NHL went outside to get some energy out. It was time to make him run, jump, play and get some sun. While outside I decided to take some photos of the boys playing croquet.

Croquet for Columbus Day

Today the two little guys are home with me. We hope to be able to get outside to enjoy the weather while it is here. The end of the week calls for temperatures barely making it to the 50’s. Talk about a major change!

Enjoy the fall while it is here.

Loves learning

If given the choice between a book and a toy, what would your child pick?

Most days NHL would select a book. A puzzle may be the only item that would tempt him away from a book. During Rosh Hashana NHL packed a bag of books to take with us to services so he could keep quiet and busy. One of the books is his new favorite about all 50 states. He quickly learned which one was our state and where other people in our life live.

About two weeks ago NHL went to a birthday party for a new classmate. We were shocked when each child was given a Melissa & Doug 51 piece large floor puzzle of the United States. I kid you not, each of the kids (his entire class was invited) received one of these amazing puzzles.

A few days after the party NHL asked if he could open the puzzle and put the states together. He quickly put the edges rogether and then proceded to put the entire United States together.

Learning the 50 states

It was fascinating listening to NHL. He recognized several of the states from their shapes. He knew many of them thanks to the book that he has from Nana and Papa. The kindergarten kid also recalled some of the facts from the book. It is truly amazing what a sponge my big guy can be.

Here he is showing off his puzzle.

Proud puzzle boy

Of course I had some fun too. Check out my caption by hovering over the photo below.
