Nap Time Preferences

The days of children napping in our house are pretty much over. When someone takes a nap in our house, it usually means we just got back from Walt Disney World, or illness is lurking. Stuffed friends like Agent P and Perry may be put down for a nap, but the rest of us are not usually this lucky.

Stuffed friends take a nap

This week has been different. NHL, 9, has napped multiple days over his winter break. The first day he had a fever, but the other days he seemed fine. Perhaps he is ready for a growth spurt and just needs rest.

So my question to you this week is inspired by the recent siestas:

Do you like to take a nap and why do you have a preference?

Gone to Play in the Snow

I will be the first to admit that I am not a fan of snow. I loved playing in it when I was a child and made some amazing snow creations with neighbors. Then, when I learned to drive and we bought our house, things changed. Driving was suddenly dangerous, winter plans were harder to make, and keeping roofs clear of ice dams a reality.

Still, I can appreciate the beauty of the fresh white snow outside.

Later on, I will take one for the team and bundle up to watch the boys play in the snow (shoveling complete and TechyDad will rake the roof after work). You see, we already have more snow from this one storm than we had all last season. I have a five year old that jumps for joy when he sees one snow flake fall from the sky because he wants to play.

Always a Time to Celebrate at Disney

Whether you are visiting a Disney park for a birthday, honeymoon, anniversary, or no real reason at all – there is always a reason to celebrate. During our last visit to Walt Disney World, we were there to celebrate the opening of New Fantasyland. We would also be leaving hours before my birthday. As we went into the parks for a few last hours, we happened to get there just in time to experience most of the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party at The Magic Kingdom. The fun atmosphere seemed to take away the sadness about going home soon and the photos seem perfect for the “Celebrate” theme this week.

Disclosure: TechyDad was invited to the New Fantasyland media event December 5-7. Disney paid for his travel, our park tickets, room, along with some extra surprises. I was his guest and invited to special events, but paid for my travel and an extra night at the resort.

Merry Moments Ahead

Twas the day before Christmas and all through the land, people were prepping for St. Nicholas to land.

These words do not fit into our household since we are Jewish. Still, I enjoy looking at photos from friends baking cookies, wrapping presents, and enjoying their beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Christmas Time at Walt Disney World

Back at our house, focus has been on getting the boys to feel better. Both started off their winter break with different symptoms that have not been pleasant. JSL has a cough that has kept many of us up for several nights. NHL had a fever and took a three hour nap followed by a request for more resting. Now, as I get ready to wish everyone a very merry Christmas with their families I look forward to healthy kiddos gracing my house so we can enjoy the week off of school together. Crafts to attempt, adventures to go on, and friends/family to visit.

On Christmas morning, we will watch the Disney Christmas parade and it will bring back memories of seeing Walt Disney World all dressed up for the holidays. After that, we will have a nice and relaxing day before dinner with TechyDad later in the evening.

So to all that are gearing up for time with your families this is for you:

Merry Christmas
