Anatomy of a lawn

It’s time for another blog anatomy lesson. This one isn’t trying to top the Anatomy of a Cave one previously mentioned, just to show you that you never know what you’ll see out in the world.

Today we went with our friends (ya know the ones with the flower painting that looked like the cave) to an apple orchard for the afternoon. When we got back to their house they mentioned a problem they had. Here’s a photo – do you know what this problem is?

Well, at least we know their problem has been circumcized. I wonder how the mohel nipped this tip?

Weekend update and photos of my boys (9-16-07)

Sunday NHL had a birthday party to head to. So most of the morning was spent wrapping the gift, making a card, getting all of us ready . . . . fun stuff. While the rest of us were running around the house like crazy the little guy was napping. Here’s how I found him when he woke up. Apparently he has made up a new version of Peek-a-boo!

This was what I first saw

I have his attention so he peeks out (probably scared to see the "flashy thing" in my hands)

"Flashy thing" goes off and this is his reaction

Mommy decides to hunt down JSL behind the bumper. Here’s what I found.

He stays hidden a little longer and finally comes back out.

Next it was time to get everyone ready to head outside. Since it was cooler both boys needed a jacket or sweater on. Here’s NHL and JSL. This is the first time JSL has put on a sweater. Notice how fascinated JSL is with his big brother.

NHL seemed to have a really nice time at his friend’s bowling party. I think 14 of the 20 kids were there. We were able to meet a lot of the parents of the children and talk with a lot of them. To our surprise Miss L actually came to the party and was cheering the kids on and talking with all of them and us as well.

This was not NHL’s first time bowling, but the first time that JL and  I saw him. Here are some photos from the party.

The first ball that we see him bowl.

Ever so slowly the ball moves down the alley.

On another turn up with a different ball we capture just how interested 4 and 5 year olds are with what happens once they release the ball.

Several parents wondered if we EVER feed NHL. Apparently he really enjoyed bowling alley pizza. It was nice to prove to Miss L that Noah can eat!

So that about sums up most of our day. The only other event of the day was when JL sprayed the wasp nest . . . sorry no photo of that.

Weekend photos of my boys (9-8-07)

After we got home from the bookstore last Saturday NHL was antsy. He wanted to get energy out and decided to be Steve Irwin and swim around our house with goggles on. I was following him around trying to get a face shot, but the little monkey was just too darn quick. Here are some shots as I was "swimming" after him.

Here’s NHL heading to his room via the hallway:

Me thinks that leg is not a crocodile to wrestle. Mind you my skin may feel as dry as one

The little snot will NOT turn around to show me the goggles, so he continues to his room. (Please ignore the dust bunnies under his bed – those are our new pets. )

He quickly jumps onto the bed and takes the goggles off and gives me this BIG grin. He was so proud that he showed me. This picture makes me see how grown up NHL really is. Where did my baby go?

Soon after this the boys were getting restless thanks to the weather and being tired. So they all piled onto our bed to read the books NHL just purchased. I decided that that was a perfect time to take photos of my three special guys together. Here are some photos of  my boys.

JSL was thrilled to curl up in JL’s arms and have a chance to chomp on his finger. Here’s a great shot of his big blue eyes (please do not stare directly into the nose hairs – LOL).

A bored NHL trying to figure out what to get into next.

Tired boys. . . one of them just won’t admit it. Thanks to that one the smallest one can’t sleep, but another is close to slumber.

I tried to get all three of the boys to smile. That just was not going to happen. So two of them decided to be silly. Here’s the result.

Can you tell I love taking photos of my three boys? Hey I have to try to catch up with JL. Now I’m excited to be able to do with with my own camera (which I did this weekend – not last).

Camera addict … the next generation

For weeks NHL has been drooling and begging for his own camera like daddy. Today was his B-day party for family and friends. I will post more about that later, but wanted this on now. So he opened up a gift from Great-Grandma. It was a camera case and he was a little confused.

Next thing he knew Grandpa asked him if the following would fit in the case:

Here are some photos that JL took of NHL using his new Fisher Price camera:

Taking a picture of Daddy taking a photo:

Checking his camera:

Looking at the photos he took with Cousin A

He even held onto it while wrestling his cousin:

Why is he a camera addict? Almost from the moment he  got it until he was half asleep he took 547photos.  No you read that correctly. He was taking photos of anything and everything. Then he started composing shots. It was sick . . . he’s just like his daddy. ACK!

Here are some of his first photos.

Photo of Daddy:

Daddy and JSL:

Even in the car he was taking photos:

Another car shot of JSL:

Photo down our street:

Where did Daddy’s head go?

Note the theme of the next few shots (there were a ton more of these):

Relaxing on the couch:

Watching Over the Hedge (one of his gifts from L, IA and D):

Did you notice the theme of many of the shots? Strange child I have.

On that note it’s time to get the little monkey up to eat. He hasn’t eaten in a LONG time and needs something before real bed time.
