Tuesday Tales – Figment of your Imagination

Tuesday Tales

There is so much going on right now. KidsFunPlaza magazine deadlines, winter break coming, and the list goes on. Thanks to all of this, Tuesday Tales will be a Figment of your Imagination this week. You know, like this cute purple guy.

My hero - FigmentLots of reading going on here. Yesterday, I read five books in one sitting with JSL. He pulled out a pile from our library bag and insisted on all being read. One of the books was the one written by  President Obama to his daughters.

Meanwhile, NHL is listening to an audio version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. He has really enjoyed reading along with the CDs and is not phased by the fact that it is a chapter book. Success!

Over break we will probably try some more chapter books on CD. My other hope is to take some time to read a science mystery book that we were sent. The one we have is called Doyle and Fossey, Science Detective – The Case of the Crooked Carnival. As a science teacher, I am really intrigued with this series by Michele Torrey. Look for a review of this coming soon.

So what have you read recently? Please be sure to link up to your Tuesday Tales and/or leave a comment below. Include something you read on your own, with a child or someone else. Tuesday Tales are all about spreading the love for books.

First scarf of the season

At the end of last winter, I bought some pretty yarn. It was blue and had flecks of other colors and looked a bit iridescent in the right light.

Blue scarf in progress

I cast on some stitches, but over the spring and summer months I worked on smaller projects that were easier to transport. A short time ago, my neck decided that it was in great need of a scarf. I started to stress knit at night and bit by bit my scarf was coming together.

Practically done

K3P3 was the pattern of my choice. Over and over again I did this until I ran out of three skeins of my fluffy blue goodness. Finally it was finished!

Scarf complete

Then it was time to put on the scarf. I have to admit, I had no idea how much warmer I would feel wearing this. The afternoon I completed my project, I wore it around the house and was in heaven.

Since I finished it late last week, I have worn it to Disney on Ice, shopping with TechyDad, and to pick up the kids from school. It has made the world of difference as the temperature continues to drop. So now I am working on another scarf for inside the house. With any luck, I will get to a store to have my mother pick out some yarn since I promised to make her one next.

Do you like to wear a scarf in the winter?

I was not a fan before this, but I think I have changed my tune!

Toy Story on Ice – December 2010

Last night, we took the boys to see Disney on Ice – Toy Story 3. We had an amazing time. This show gave me the opportunity to explore with my new camera. I took two short videos and one of them came out quite nice. I thought I would share some of the magic of the finale with you.

Of course, now I wish I had taken more video since the boys keep asking to watch this over and over. Next time (and there will be a next time), I will do just that. Thank you Disney on Ice (Feld Entertainment) for another fantastic show. More photos and information coming soon.

Toy Story 3 on Ice – Family Night

Dear NHL and JSL,

Tonight we went to see Disney on Ice. The two of you had seen the commercials on TV for quite some time. Papa mentioned that he had gotten you tickets, so you both knew it was only a matter of time.

NHL, this was the third Disney on Ice show that you have been to. You were a pro and knew what to expect when we walked into the arena. I think JSL was a little overwhelmed. He was mesmerized by all of the merchandise for sale when you walked in, the people selling items at the seats, and then the show itself.

Daddy and I decided to get both of you some Toy Story hats that came with cotton candy. They were cute and I think both of you will enjoy them more at home. Here are a few pictures:

Now we just have to hope that Daddy can rescue the photos from his new camera. Something went wacky during the show and they may be gone. Thank goodness I took my camera along.

I can not wait to talk to both of you in the morning about the show. I just hope you sleep in a little since you were up so late. Looking forward to more magical memories with both of you in the future.

Love,

Mommy
