Is the baby coming out now?

Sorry I couldn’t help the title since NHL is sleeping now and can’t record anything like in the past.

At about 10:22 I received a call from my brother. He calmly told me that they are pretty sure M’s water broke. The doctor on (her doctor is away until some time tomorrow) told them to go into the hospital to see. We all had a feeling it would happen when her doctor was out of town, but I figured some time tomorrow when my parents were on their way back home. They have been there visiting since Thursday.

I can’t wait to hear more and see my new little niece. Will post more details later if the little princess makes her debut.

Weekend photos of my boys (9-8-07)

After we got home from the bookstore last Saturday NHL was antsy. He wanted to get energy out and decided to be Steve Irwin and swim around our house with goggles on. I was following him around trying to get a face shot, but the little monkey was just too darn quick. Here are some shots as I was "swimming" after him.

Here’s NHL heading to his room via the hallway:

Me thinks that leg is not a crocodile to wrestle. Mind you my skin may feel as dry as one

The little snot will NOT turn around to show me the goggles, so he continues to his room. (Please ignore the dust bunnies under his bed – those are our new pets. )

He quickly jumps onto the bed and takes the goggles off and gives me this BIG grin. He was so proud that he showed me. This picture makes me see how grown up NHL really is. Where did my baby go?

Soon after this the boys were getting restless thanks to the weather and being tired. So they all piled onto our bed to read the books NHL just purchased. I decided that that was a perfect time to take photos of my three special guys together. Here are some photos of  my boys.

JSL was thrilled to curl up in JL’s arms and have a chance to chomp on his finger. Here’s a great shot of his big blue eyes (please do not stare directly into the nose hairs – LOL).

A bored NHL trying to figure out what to get into next.

Tired boys. . . one of them just won’t admit it. Thanks to that one the smallest one can’t sleep, but another is close to slumber.

I tried to get all three of the boys to smile. That just was not going to happen. So two of them decided to be silly. Here’s the result.

Can you tell I love taking photos of my three boys? Hey I have to try to catch up with JL. Now I’m excited to be able to do with with my own camera (which I did this weekend – not last).

Childhood book memories

Books are very important in our house. Not only because I’m a teacher, but because JL and I both recall reading a lot when we were children.

We recently starting getting HBO free for a few months. Some of the mommies on a group mentioned a good show to DVR. So I started to DVR HBO Storybook Musicals. I had heard that there was "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst. This was a favorite when I was growing up. We missed that at first, but one of the first recorded was "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile" by Bernard Waber. NHL instantly fell in love with Lyle and wanted to see it over and over during those weeks that he was home with me

Then one day I saw a commercial for a show called George and Martha. I was curious, could it be THE George and Martha that I loved when I was a child? Sure enough it was a show with Nathan Lane as the voice of George based on the books by George Marshall. When I was a kid, we all used to fight in my elementary school to take out these books. I once again programmed the DVR to record these shows for NHL to enjoy. We all loved them. They were adorable and made the books come alive.

During a rainstorm last Saturday we decided to head to the bookstore to use up a gift card that NHL had received. We went in and saw a few books. Then I suggested looking for a Lyle the Crocodile book and possibly George and Martha as well. Here’s a photo of the books NHL picked out.

Since we bought these they have traveled all over in his backpack. He loves them and wants us to read them to him all of the time. It’s so nice when some books are timeless and can be shared with your children.

Lots of Bzzzz-ing in the family

Flying insects of the stinging kind be gone!

That is the message from our family after too many of these suckers have gotten too up close and personal with us.

1 – Friday while while my parents were visiting my brother and his wife they went apple picking. They apparently got some bees angry and one stung my mother.

2 – Yesterday after shopping at BJ’s, JL was putting JSL and his carrier into the car. Suddenly he yelped and started flapping his arm. Yup, he was also stung by a bee. His arm must have blocked the path of the angry bee and  voila! Luckily he is not allergic. He just has a small welt and is very itchy this morning.

3 – Just before dinner last night I was going around opening windows since it was cool out. I had to climb up to open the kitchen window since I am vertically challenged. I opened the shade all the way and climbed up. Then I yelled to JL. I found a bee/wasp nest in the awning that is over the window with a few pesky friends right on it. GRRRR!

With some research we are not pretty sure that those stinging neighbors that are on our house are paper wasps. The nest looks just like the one pictured here on Wikipedia. In addition to the the Terminex website makes their behavior match up where other buzzing pests do not. So later this morning JL will be heading to get something to spray the nest with (at night of course) to dispose of these critters.

Hopefully the count stays at 3 and does not need an addition later.

A freakin’ kakamunch day

I am sitting here in hysterics laughing my rear off . . . man it feels so good (even if the underlying problem isn’t too funny).

Why you ask?

Well, if you have to freakin’ kakamunch ask then you aren’t in with 4 year old boy talk. Heck I never heard the one before the other freakin’ day when my kakamunch son, NHL, started using it. I think the new freakin’ PreK class is to blame. I may have to talk to his kakamunch teacher about this freakin’ issue.

Now for why I’m in hysterics.

My friend L and I were chatting on IM and I told her about NHL’s latest. Then we both went off for a little while to do things. I went off to work on a project for my Swaparooni gift and JL was at my computer making a Spider-Man birthday card for NHL’s friend. Here is some of what we said:

Me: JL here making a card
L: aaah
Me: Or should I say I’m making a FREAKIN’ card?
L: Just freakin finish and let _____ get back on the freakin computer
Me: ____ has a FREAKIN’ bug up her FREAKIN’ butt about FREAKIN’ crocheting.
L: well, that’s not my freakin department! I’m a freakin knitter!
the_angel_forever: She made the FREAKIN’ KaKaMunch _____ (Swaparooni gift must not be revealed). ;-)
L: Well, she can take her freakin kakamunch ____ and get a kakamunch crochet hook and some freakin yarn and get to freakin crocheting…or get some freakin knitting needles and knit a kakamunch scarf
Me: Tis me – ya freakin kakamunchhead    (***Made JL move to take over)
L: well, you need to keep your kakamunchhead husband off of your puter
L: (you know how sad this whole conversation is?)
Me: YUP – Blogging eventually
Me: With freakin pseudo-kakamunch names   (***Those would be Me and L  *wink*)
L: LMAO
L: D just said "wait. How come Freakin JL gets to use her Kakamunch computer and I never get to use the kakamunch freakin computer?"

Me: I can’t breathe – laughing too hard
Me: Need a pee pad underneath me
L: so are we!!!

So there you have it. How pathetic are we? Grown adults that live near each other "talking" on freakin’ IM instead of the kakamunch phone. No less using my kakamunch son’s freakin’ new words from his new PreK class (totally blaming them). I may have to talk to his kakamunch teacher about this freakin’ issue.

Insert SNORT here! I am laughing so hard I am actually snorting.  Oh how I needed this after the last week or so.

Seriously I do not normally talk/type/IM/blog like this. . . I’m just in a mood.

C’est Moi

***Please note L gave me permission to blog this.
