The WRONG type of chocolate river

Where are the Ooompa Loompas when you need them?

Please note the following is NOT for the weak stomached. Only a parent could/would laugh at this type of potty humor!

NHL finished his antibiotic this morning. Thanks to this we have been VERY careful what we allow him to eat so it doesn’t cause "fun" for his tummy. Fruit and juice in take were minimal. Yesterday afternoon the two little guys and I went to visit my grandmother since her apartment complex is next to NHL’s new school. At one point I went into another room to nurse JSL. My grandmother asked if NHL could have some grapes. Little did I know she gave him a monster bowl of them and he gobbled them up.

Fast forward to early this evening. Suddenly at dinner NHL says to JL "Daddy my tummy and booty hurt."  Next things they are rushing to the bathroom.

I instantly hear quite the sound coming from in there. You can just imagine – I’ll leave it at that.

A little later we were getting ready to head out to buy bananas (for obvious reasons). JL mentioned NHL’s "water fall" from earlier. I remarked "It was more like Willy Wonka’s chocolate river!" JL quickly retorted  "But it’s the wrong kind of choclate. Augustus don’t drink from that river!"

We were in hysterics. JSL was so confused he just looked at us like we were crazy (well DUH) and NHL had no clue what we were talking about.

8 Random Things about Moi

So, I’ve been tagged  by Laura

Here are the rules…you list 8 random things about you and then tag a few other people to do it, with links to their blog..and leave a comment tht they’ve been tagged…so, here are my 8 random things

1) I met JL (my hubby) online. I was doing research online for school and didn’t realize I had gone into a chat room. Something caught my eye that he said and I looked at his profile. Thanks to that (" Nice Jewish boy looking for a nice Jewish girl" ) I sent him an instant message. We had a long distance relationship for quite some time before he moved here a year before our wedding.

2) Before becoming a teacher I went to pharmacy school for 2 1/2 miserable years. Even when I was planning on becoming a pharmacist I wanted to teach. I just finally realized I did NOT like the school I was at and braved telling my parents what I really wanted to do.

3) While in college I had season tickets for our local AHL hockey team. I used to travel all around the place with friends to games and met a lot of really great people that way.

4) I lived across the street from a hockey player (was on the team I had tickets for above) for a few seasons. I did not realize he was there right away until I saw some of the other now NHL players there. He was only a few months older than I was at the time – away from Russia in this strange country. One snowy day my friend and I baked cookies for him and delivered them. We felt bad that he was all alone when he seemed to want to join the two of us and my brother goofing off in the snow (remember I was in college). When we went to his door he opened it up and was barely wearing anything. HELLO!  We seriously never knew if he had more than the t-shirt that was VERY short on.

5) Once I was a Secret Pal to two of my cousins. My younger cousin B grew up with me sending her random notes and things until she was SO old and I finally came clean about who it was. I also had a secret e-mail account that I used for my other cousin M where I wrote her. I’m not sure if she ever knew it was me sending her little hellos and things.

6) We are going to see the Wiggles soon with NHL. We have front row tickets!!!! It’s a special mommy and daddy night out with just him. Nana and Papa will be watching JSL for the night.

7) JL and I just started counting points with Weight Watchers. I had to do it since nursing seems to make me SO hungry and I was not making the best choices. I had lost a lot of weight when I was pregnant (pregnancy is a great yet expensive weight loss plan), but it has slowly come back over the last 5 months. Last time we did it when NHL was about 8 months old. JL lost 80 pounds and I lost 50 pounds. Then we got lazy and stopped counting points. In addition to this I started teaching full time and there were WAY too many yummy things in the faculty room the second year. The first year I was good and never went there much. In addition to that we had the scares with NHL not walking.

8) I learned to knit when I was really young. I haven’t done a lot of it recently. Thanks to bad wrists I am itching to try to crochet. I just found out that my grandmother doesn’t knit, she crochets. I never looked. Had I paid closer attention I would have noticed she didn’t have two needles and was in fact using a hook. So she and my aunt have said that they will try to teach me how. YAHOO!

So here are my tags (you can feel free to be party poopers and not do this, but it’s neat to learn things):

Sandy  –> I know Laura already did it, but I want to anyway

Nancy –> She’s one of the people that made me want to blog from the start.

Airing Dirty Laundry –> My new Swaparooni buddy so I can learn more about her.

Weekend Review (10/12 – 10/14)

What a difference a week makes. From temperatures in the 80’s where onesies are optimal, to weather barely making it to 60 for a high with sweaters and hats required. I missed feeling the change since I was cooped up in the house with NHL most of the week, but man did it hit hard when we went out this weekend.

Friday night NHL was going stir crazy from a week almost entirely in our house. We figured we would head out and about the next day. We tried to get both boys ready for bed early. Here is NHL trying to avoid PJ’s by playing with his little brother (all happy and warm in his froggy PJ’s).

He even tried to avoid bed by trying to kiss JSL over and over:

Of course JSL thought this was all hilarious:

Finally given no choice in the matter he started to put on his PJ’s.

NHL gets ready for bed

The next morning we actually had to turn the heat on since it was FREEZING in the house. After it was on and we had breakfast the three boys thought it would be fun to romp around. ‘Tis my pile o’boys!

 Pile o'boys!

Soon after this it was time to get dressed. JL went to get dressed while I went to find something for NHL. Check out the twins! Seriously we had no clue what the other was selecting.

Some friends stopped by early afternoon to talk. Once we were done we got the boys bundled up and went to the park. JSL had his sweater on, a blanket, and hat . . . we did not think the car seat cover was needed at that point since the sun was out. Here are some photos from the park (not too many were taken of NHL since he was always on the move.

Saturday we went out to dinner and then both boys crashed on the way home. NHL got up for his antibiotic, but practically begged to go right back to sleep.

Sunday we went out to breakfast with my father. Then we went to Target for some things and for Dad to get photos printed. Next we went to BJ’s to look at the cell phones there (we’re due for new ones). Got diapers and other "fun" stuff and dropped dad off and went home. After lunch we went to get NHL’s 4 year portraits at JC Penney – they came out great!!! Since it was SO cold we put JSL’s car seat cover on. Check him out in the car along with NHL in his cow (also note his shades they will show up again soon).

Before dinner was ready JSL was playing in his highchair. JL decided to put on NHL’s shades on him. This is the result:

 Cool JSL and NHL

Later at night JL found a new program and made the following which is a nice way to end things.

1st day & major immunization mess up

So did you hear me screaming wherever you may be?  If not count your blessings.

Let’s start with the good news. NHL had a wonderful first day at his new preschool. No crying, no fussing, followed directions, great report. It was so refreshing to hear positive things from a teacher. I NEVER heard that at the Montessori school. He liked  it and seems excited to go back again tomorrrow.

After JL and I dropped NHL off this morning I ran some errands. First I stopped at the Montessori school and picked up the items we had there. I cut our loss on the supplies that we sent (annoys me though). The principal was there and took me to the classroom. I was hoping to avoid both of these things. The teacher was sugary sweet and asking where NHL was. . . then she recalled he started today. I told her I’m taking his lead on whether or not to come to say goodbye. If he asks I will contact her, if not we’re done. After that JSL and I quickly stopped at the pharmacy.

Then we went home. Once JSL was fed he fell asleep and I put him into the crib. No sooner had I done this the phone was ringing and it was the nurse from the Montessori school. She knew it was it first day at the other school, but wanted to point out a problem with NHL’s immunizations. Apparently in this state the chicken pox vaccine has a law where you must give the shot +/- 4 days from your 1st birthday.

Please sit down for the next part, I wasn’t and wish I had been.

NHL’s birthday is the 17th, his immunization was given on the 11th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So based on 3 measly days he was not considered immunized. CRAP I tell you. The nurse was condescending and honestly made no sense. I called Aunt M and asked her. She found a few things. Then JL talked with the ex-daycare director since he was there anyway – she had never heard of it.  JL then called the State Health Department’s Immunization division. Sure enough the nurse was right, but wrong. JL took this information and called our doctor’s office. They had not heard of it, but were going to look into it. The nurse there called me back. Sure enough THEY messed up and are not sure how, but he needs it done again. They were all floored and upset – which they better be.

So Wednesday JL, NHL and I are having flu shots and NHL is getting what they are calling his first Varicella vaccination.  They will look into when to do the second one that is normally done from 4-6 years . . . . and said they will write a note to the district explaining what happened should we need it for kindergarten.

Thank goodness JL will be there for that since the last shots were "fun" to do in August.
