Weekend Review (10/21 – 10/22)

The weekend was a whirlwind of errands and things all packed into one. Justing thinking about it makes my head hurt. . . oh wait I already had this stupid headache!

Saturday morning NHL received a phone call from Nana and Papa. They wanted to know if he would like to go with them to breakfast and out. So we quickly got him ready to head out with them. Then a little while later they all called to see if we wanted to head to the new Lowes with them. We said sure. When we got there NHL was so excited to go in. He had watched the building get knocked down and the new one slowly go up and was thrilled to see the final product. When we walked in my father knew to ask for a coupon. If you asked they had buy $25 get $10 off coupons. So we took one. I needed a new extended snow brush for my van and we also bought the new energy saving fan bulbs for our dining room. Now we’re investigating new insulation for the attic to try to help prevent the monster ice damns that form. So we used the coupon and the snow brush was free!

After that we were going to head to Sams. Then my father pulled his car over and asked if we wanted to stop at Toys R Us. He explained that he had heard on the radio the day before that they were having a special sale on all Fisher Price Sesame Street items (50% on them except the TMX line). We arrived before they opened and within 5 minutes they opened the door. We bought a bunch of things for Chanukah gifts for cousins and a few items to put away for future baby gifts. Then we went to Sams and NHL loves snacking there on all of the samples. Then it was time to head to Target to turn in NHL’s antibiotic medicine chart for a prize (LOVE Target pharmacy).

Once we were done with this we went our separate way from my parents. We went home to do lunch. JL decided to make applesauce in the crock pot. Once it was set and on we went to Michaels to buy some items for NHL to have for The Wiggles concert. He bought a rose for Dorothy the Dinosaur and bought things to make a bone for Wags the dog (photo of this to come later). Then it was back home to eat and then we went to the grocery store.

Sunday we got up and went to our Shul for a Story time and craft hour that is for 3-5 year olds. This was the first time we went. Noah really seemed to enjoy it. There were only 5-6 kids there (we’re told there are usually 12-14). They read the kids Five Little Gefiltes. The book was hilarious! Then it was time to do the craft. They had big plates, glue, and all different types of beans for the kids to make mosaics. Some kids made Star of Davids and others made their own things.

After this we had to do to Verizon Wireless to get our phone fixed. My parents met us there and we all got new phones ($150 ones for FREE x 4) and added my mother onto the plan. We were there FOREVER. We left there called my friend L to confirm plans to meet at the park for the boys to get energy out. We went back home had lunch and I tossed laundry in (I found all of NHL’s old 6-9 month clothing to wash and get ready). At 3:15 we went to the park to meet L and IA to play. The boys had a blast. Here are some of the 100+ photos that JL took while we were there (he was in his glory getting some autumn shots).

NHL going down the slide:

I LOVE this shot of NHL having fun crunching the leaves. It’s a great photo representing the fun in fall.

NHL and IA on the train. This was one of the few times they stood still long enough for a photo with both of them in it.

Most of the time NHL was running after IA. Here’s a shot of what it was like!

JL decided to help both boys on the swing, so I took over on camera detail. Note that both boys were chatting with each other at one point.

Soon after this IA was chanting "Higher! Faster!" to JL. You will see he was in heaven since we saw his feet most of the time.

WHEEE - IA goes higher per request

During this time JSL was in his stroller enjoying the almost 80 degree day. He was taking in the sites.

Next it was time to break out the soccer net and ball. Here are a few shots of how the boys played soccer.

JSL so fascinated with his big brother:

JSL is SO fascinated with NHL

Before leaving the boys were fooling around and they fell onto the ground. IA was on the bottom and clocked his head on the ground pretty bad. Luckily he seemed to be fine, aside from biting his lips.

From here we picked up my grandmother and went to dinner at my parents house. I now LOVE tilapia since it is SO low in points (Weight Watchers that is). I programed my father’s new phone, JL uploaded their photos to WinkFlash and we had a nice meal. JSL started crying hysterically at 7:00. Nothing stopped him. The poor kiddo was teething. As I posted before this those suckers on the bottom broke through Monday.

Well, that’s basically the weekend. I best be off to get ready. We are going to see The Wiggles tonight and have front row seats. I need to gather supplies for JSL to have at Nana and Papa’s house

The WRONG type of chocolate river

Where are the Ooompa Loompas when you need them?

Please note the following is NOT for the weak stomached. Only a parent could/would laugh at this type of potty humor!

NHL finished his antibiotic this morning. Thanks to this we have been VERY careful what we allow him to eat so it doesn’t cause "fun" for his tummy. Fruit and juice in take were minimal. Yesterday afternoon the two little guys and I went to visit my grandmother since her apartment complex is next to NHL’s new school. At one point I went into another room to nurse JSL. My grandmother asked if NHL could have some grapes. Little did I know she gave him a monster bowl of them and he gobbled them up.

Fast forward to early this evening. Suddenly at dinner NHL says to JL "Daddy my tummy and booty hurt."  Next things they are rushing to the bathroom.

I instantly hear quite the sound coming from in there. You can just imagine – I’ll leave it at that.

A little later we were getting ready to head out to buy bananas (for obvious reasons). JL mentioned NHL’s "water fall" from earlier. I remarked "It was more like Willy Wonka’s chocolate river!" JL quickly retorted  "But it’s the wrong kind of choclate. Augustus don’t drink from that river!"

We were in hysterics. JSL was so confused he just looked at us like we were crazy (well DUH) and NHL had no clue what we were talking about.

Weekend Review (10/12 – 10/14)

What a difference a week makes. From temperatures in the 80’s where onesies are optimal, to weather barely making it to 60 for a high with sweaters and hats required. I missed feeling the change since I was cooped up in the house with NHL most of the week, but man did it hit hard when we went out this weekend.

Friday night NHL was going stir crazy from a week almost entirely in our house. We figured we would head out and about the next day. We tried to get both boys ready for bed early. Here is NHL trying to avoid PJ’s by playing with his little brother (all happy and warm in his froggy PJ’s).

He even tried to avoid bed by trying to kiss JSL over and over:

Of course JSL thought this was all hilarious:

Finally given no choice in the matter he started to put on his PJ’s.

NHL gets ready for bed

The next morning we actually had to turn the heat on since it was FREEZING in the house. After it was on and we had breakfast the three boys thought it would be fun to romp around. ‘Tis my pile o’boys!

 Pile o'boys!

Soon after this it was time to get dressed. JL went to get dressed while I went to find something for NHL. Check out the twins! Seriously we had no clue what the other was selecting.

 Twin boys

Some friends stopped by early afternoon to talk. Once we were done we got the boys bundled up and went to the park. JSL had his sweater on, a blanket, and hat . . . we did not think the car seat cover was needed at that point since the sun was out. Here are some photos from the park (not too many were taken of NHL since he was always on the move.

Saturday we went out to dinner and then both boys crashed on the way home. NHL got up for his antibiotic, but practically begged to go right back to sleep.

Sunday we went out to breakfast with my father. Then we went to Target for some things and for Dad to get photos printed. Next we went to BJ’s to look at the cell phones there (we’re due for new ones). Got diapers and other "fun" stuff and dropped dad off and went home. After lunch we went to get NHL’s 4 year portraits at JC Penney – they came out great!!! Since it was SO cold we put JSL’s car seat cover on. Check him out in the car along with NHL in his cow (also note his shades they will show up again soon).

Before dinner was ready JSL was playing in his highchair. JL decided to put on NHL’s shades on him. This is the result:

 Cool JSL and NHL

Later at night JL found a new program and made the following which is a nice way to end things.

1st day & major immunization mess up

So did you hear me screaming wherever you may be?  If not count your blessings.

Let’s start with the good news. NHL had a wonderful first day at his new preschool. No crying, no fussing, followed directions, great report. It was so refreshing to hear positive things from a teacher. I NEVER heard that at the Montessori school. He liked  it and seems excited to go back again tomorrrow.

After JL and I dropped NHL off this morning I ran some errands. First I stopped at the Montessori school and picked up the items we had there. I cut our loss on the supplies that we sent (annoys me though). The principal was there and took me to the classroom. I was hoping to avoid both of these things. The teacher was sugary sweet and asking where NHL was. . . then she recalled he started today. I told her I’m taking his lead on whether or not to come to say goodbye. If he asks I will contact her, if not we’re done. After that JSL and I quickly stopped at the pharmacy.

Then we went home. Once JSL was fed he fell asleep and I put him into the crib. No sooner had I done this the phone was ringing and it was the nurse from the Montessori school. She knew it was it first day at the other school, but wanted to point out a problem with NHL’s immunizations. Apparently in this state the chicken pox vaccine has a law where you must give the shot +/- 4 days from your 1st birthday.

Please sit down for the next part, I wasn’t and wish I had been.

NHL’s birthday is the 17th, his immunization was given on the 11th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So based on 3 measly days he was not considered immunized. CRAP I tell you. The nurse was condescending and honestly made no sense. I called Aunt M and asked her. She found a few things. Then JL talked with the ex-daycare director since he was there anyway – she had never heard of it.  JL then called the State Health Department’s Immunization division. Sure enough the nurse was right, but wrong. JL took this information and called our doctor’s office. They had not heard of it, but were going to look into it. The nurse there called me back. Sure enough THEY messed up and are not sure how, but he needs it done again. They were all floored and upset – which they better be.

So Wednesday JL, NHL and I are having flu shots and NHL is getting what they are calling his first Varicella vaccination.  They will look into when to do the second one that is normally done from 4-6 years . . . . and said they will write a note to the district explaining what happened should we need it for kindergarten.

Thank goodness JL will be there for that since the last shots were "fun" to do in August.

Late weekend review (10-5 to 10-7)

Last week NHL stayed home on Friday to go with us to Simchat Torah services. He was so excited to go and dance with all of the Torahs. Talk about a tired little boy. He hardly sat down. He paraded around with his stuffed Torah making sure that everyone stopped to kiss it. He was too cute.

This is a photo of the boys in their Polo shirts that someone from my school gave them:

Brother hug in matching shirts - 2

Later on we we able to get both of the boys to nap. Here’s how I found JSL in his crib (note one hand is missing):

Where the rest of him was during the nap

Here’s where we found the other hand:

JSL's hand out of the crib while napping

That was also JSL’s second day using his new Fisher Price small high chair that we got. It’s great since it saves space and goes right onto the chair. He loved being able to sit with us and see what we were doing. Plus thanks to the tray he could easily manipulate toys from hand to hand.

 Second time in new chair

While JSL was busy with all of his goodies, NHL was hard at work on a computer. He was busy making a card for our neighbor’s birthday party the following day (note the extreme concentration on his face)

.My little computer geek - 2

The following day it was REALLY warm. Who knew we could get to temperatures in the high 80’s here this time of year? Well, we did. That morning before NHL went to a birthday party next door the boys were all playing on the floor. It was so sweet. I asked if I could get a hand shot of all three of them together. Here is what I captured.

 Boy hands

JL took NHL to the party. Since it was SO warm JSL and I came back to where we had lots of fans and the AC running. I did three loads of laundry while playing with the little guy. Here he is sitting in his "thinking swing" and grabbing his newly found foot.

 Got one foot

Next it was time for a little buddy chewing to help those teething gums.

 Duckie eating 3

And then Mommy wanted to get a photo of JSL in the cute little onesie that Nana and Papa gave him before he outgrows it. Please note he has his feet again!

 I got my feet!

Later on that night Daddy gave JSL his first piggy back ride way up high. Here are a few photos from that milestone.

And now JSL helps JL to pull some more hair out:

Won't let go of Daddy's hair

That night our friends came over to order dinner in, talk, see the boys, and play Wii for the first time. It was a fun night. Sunday we ran errands and noticed that NHL wasn’t feeling so great. This was the first that we noticed he was getting a cold. As noted in other entries it was just a warning of the illness to come.

The weekend was a long one for NHL thanks to the holiday. Both boys were home with me for Columbus Day while JL went to work. NHL really wasn’t feeling well. By that night he had a low grade fever and had to stay home the next day requiring the important meeting with the school district to be done on the phone. C’est la vie with kids.
