Sometimes a song, a quote, or other item just sticks in your head. Case in point would be the words of Dory. Yes, I mean Dory from Finding Nemo. After seeing Finding Nemo the Musical while at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in May, her words have been motivating me. Which ones?
For some reason, I often find myself singing along to the song from the musical. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend taking the time. Here is the song that has made an earworm into my head and keeps me plugging along. Thanks to YouTube, I found it posted by Ame Livingston who happens to be Dory in the video.
What do you think about Dory’s words of wisdom to just keep swimming? More about this and some life lessons from Finding Nemo tomorrow.
When I head to the doctor’s office, I rarely pay attention to the art on the wall. Most of the time, I am wrangling children, reading a book (if lucky enough to be alone), or catching up on e-mail (hello smart phone). There could be some amazing art on the walls, but I’m sorry to admit they are usually wasting their money trying to impress me with it.
All of this may have changed the other day. I had my annual gynecologist appointment. After I put on my magical paper gown, flicked the ready switch, covered my legs over, I sat with nothing to do but wait. Everything else was on the chair with my clothing. Suddenly, I looked up on the wall to this:
The next thing I knew, I was laughing. It was like I was a middle school student in a health class. I knew that I had to pull myself together before my exam. I also knew that I HAD to take a photo there was a blog post here.
Did you notice what made me laugh? If not, take a close look at the artists name. I am not making fun of it, just think it’s hilarious since I was sitting with stirrups starring me down in a paper gown. It made me wonder if they had done it on purpose. Perhaps to see if patients were paying attention and to provide a little comic relief since so many people get anxious while waiting within this type of medical practice. I think I like this more than the anatomy posters or ads for different medications. It made me think and laugh at the same time.
So my question to you this week:
Do you look on the walls while waiting for your doctor? I would love to know if you have ever noticed anything like this. It really makes me wonder if others may be doing similar hidden funnies for patients to find.

As a child that grew up in the 80’s, a lot of the hot toys and shows are back. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. Imagine a world filled with clouds, rainbows, and cute bears with special symbols on their tummy. Do you know who I am talking about?
These Care Bears were the ones that my mother collected. I had several of the huggable bears, figures that would move, and their Cloudmobile (need to locate those). The grandkids adore playing with the ones that Nana still has. I am often quizzed to recall their names. Some I can recall, but others do escape me.
When I was contacted by Mom Select and MommyParties to host a Care Bears Welcome to Care-a-Lot viewing party for the new Care Bears show on the Hub, I jumped at the opportunity. I have two boys, but it was the chance to share part of my childhood memories with them.
Our original party had to be rescheduled thanks to my little guy going to the ER. Now, we are attempting a redo with friends to share the new series with them. While JSL was not feeling well, we watched an episode that we had on our DVR together. My five year old son really enjoyed it. Check that, we both liked watching the Care Bears come to life in front of our eyes.
I remember watching the old Care Bears show and specials. At the time, they were really decent and we would watch them over and over with friends. The new series has fantastic animation and lessons to learn from. There is even a place to meet them on the official Hub website. I know we will be watching more of the Care Bears as the series has just begun and airs Saturday mornings on the hub at 8 am ET.
Now, it’s time to fess up. Who is your favorite Care Bear? I think I still love my original Cheer Bear (the rainbow tummy up above), but Grumpy in the new series has a lot of spunk.
Disclosure: I was selected byMomSelect and Mommy Parties to host a “Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot” in home party. We received a DVD screener and media kit featuring stickers, crayons, activity sheets, and party ideas. The opinions are 100% mine and I received no other compensation.
Most of the events from eleven years ago today are hard for me to remember. I have a feeling a lot of brides will probably admit that to you because they are so caught up in the moment and making sure everything goes just the way that it was planned.
The day that I married TechyDad is mostly a blur. So many hours of preparations all came down to one magical day when I became JL’s wife. Our family and friends were all there to help us to begin this part of our lives together.
Thank goodness for photos. I can look back and smile and know that it was the day that I married my best friend and the father of our beautiful boys. It was also the time that we would take our first adventure to Walt Disney World, where I would convert TechyDad into a member of the Disney Driven Life.
Last year, our tenth anniversary trip had to be canceled thanks to Hurricane Irene. Of course, that was only after the plumbing debacle that caused us to move out of our house on the night of our actual anniversary for several days (fumes were that bad). Luckily, we were able to head back to Disney World in May where we celebrated our next anniversary a little early.
Thanks to the Disney PhotoPass photographers for suggesting that we do a few couple only shot. These are items that we will always cherish.
JL, I love you with all of my heart and am so lucky that we have had these eleven years together. I look forward to many more adventures, magical moments, and memories together.
Several weeks ago, TechyDad noticed on my WordPress admin page that I was closing in on post number 2000. He actually noted that it would fall on a Friday, so I knew it would show up for an Aloha Friday topic. In February 2007, I started The Angel Forever as a Live Journal blog which eventually moved to a self hosted domain with the same name in October 2007.
Over the 2000 posts, I have written about being pregnant with my youngest, giving birth, my oldest starting school, my oldest switching schools, and soon my youngest heading to kindergarten. We have celebrated countless birthdays, events at school, and lots of Jewish holidays. The Angel Forever has documented our travels to Walt Disney World for the first time as a family in May 2009 and multiple times since then. I write about health topics (febrile seizures, getting your first mammogram), education topics, arts and crafts, and knitting. Since we adore books and I am a certified reading teacher, I started Tuesday Tales to focus weekly on books that we adore, reviews, meeting authors, literacy topics, and beyond.
As my children get older, and life changes the topics within The Angel Forever will morph and grow with me. So my question to you this week:
How has your focus changed during your blogging tenure? Do you tend to go more with the flow, or do you have a certain niche that you write about?
